Kitemill is developing an innovative Airborne Wind Energy technology (AWE) to produce renewable energy using autonomous kites/drones. AWE has unique benefits compared to wind turbines that make deployment very scalable, by aiming to reduce the cost and increase area efficiency.

Without a major accelerator in clean energy innovation, we believe that reaching net-zero emissions (NZE) by 2050 will not be achievable. In 2050, almost 50% of CO2 emissions reductions in the NZE come from technologies currently at demonstration or prototype stage., (like airborne wind energy.

Kitemill's autonomous drones are connected to a ground-based generator with a tether. Using the wind, the kite pulls out the tether, generating electricity at the ground station.

AWE's value proposition:

- Ambition to abate 10 % of global emissions

- Harvest wind at higher altitudes with an estimated 5x the energy per km2

- An estimated 60% capacity factor & up to a 90% reduction in material consumption

Our business model will be simple; we aim to sell the systems to energy companies developing renewable energy capacity in large wind parks.

We've developed/demonstrated automatic operation with a 20 kW kite operating at a 300-metre altitude.

We have received permanent airspace approval (for AWE), DNV prototype certificate & Everoze VDD technical report.
