The saddest in her face, so touching knowing that her father still cared for her all these years.

I love this movie much. Making the Death Star's fatal flaw a deliberate trap set by a conscientious imperial engineer was the most ingenious idea the series has come up with recently. It fits so perfectly into the picture, explaining a major plot hole from the original trilogy. If you don't know the chronology of the movies, you can hardly tell this is a retcon added afterwards. Brilliant! The only way this could've been more perfect is if he had mentioned the vent hole and that leads directly into the reactor. It is literally like bomb with a wick placed in it, waiting to be ignited.
It is easily the best SW film since the Empire Strikes Back.

You havent seen your father in 15 years and think he is dead yet you have 2 minutes to remember everything being told to you because it's so dire. Fighting an emotional overload yet maintaining the ability to stay focused until the end as the recording cuts and she drops to her knees at the sheer stress of it. Well played!

I lied. I learned to lie.

What an honest truth some people have to live with. A great scene but it’s unfortunate Galen had such a small role in the movie.

Outstanding scene. One of Star Wars’ best scenes. The acting, the dialogue... just beautifully perfect

Jesus Christ, this scene rips my heart out. I always get annoyed when people criticize the characters in Rogue One. For me, Jyn is my favorite character in all of Star Wars. She's a loner punk who thinks no one loves her and that she'll always be alone, so she acts all tough and uncaring...but then she sees her dad and he tells her that he always loved her, that he never stopped thinking about her and that he was in pain every moment they were apart. I love this movie.

felicity jones is such a good actress she looks as if she was actually seeing message from a father she hasn't seen in years

His delivery here is awesome. “We call it the Death Star.” Something about the raspiness of his voice, probably from fatigue, just sells the dread of this weapon. It’s my personal favorite of the Disney movies

This scene was incredible, like in the film Interstellar when Matthew McConnaughey's character went through the transmissions of his kids growing up. RIGHT IN THE FEELS.

This scene is cinematic perfection. Dialogue, acting, shot choreography (that part where the Death Star blots out the sun gives me chills).

my dad died a year after this movie came out, every time I come at this scene it reminded of my dad and made me cry so much, that is the power of true cinema!

And yet, when Galen's image shimmers into view and he begins to speak, all of that bitterness and anger is replaced by wonderment. She spares a quick glance to Saw and you can see the questioning in her eyes..."is this really him?" And when Galen says "I can't imagine what you think of me", you can see a faint glimmer of the anger Jyn has been carrying for so long flash across her face. But as her father continues his explanation for doing what he did, Jyn's emotional walls begin to recede further and further. And finally, when her father addresses her directly -- "...but Jyn, if you're listening, my beloved..."-- it's all too much and she's reduced to tears.

And I had a thought some time ago that made this scene even more heart-rending for me: of course Jyn weeps because her father has, in some small way, returned to her and reaffirmed his love for her...but I wonder if some of her tears are also because she's discovered that the man she's spent so many years hating and despising is still the good man whose memory she holds on to in the deepest part of her heart...in fact, not only that, he's a *better* man than she ever knew.

"Rogue One" is the only Star Wars film fully worthy of the original trilogy. It's a true masterpiece, well thought out, well written, well acted, well filmed and well edited.
This scene, for example, is so well done that it could seem to come from a tragedy by Shakespeare, so high is its dramaturgical value beautifully supported by the intense and superb acting by Mads Mikkelsen. Also the performance of Felicity Jones is absolutely stunning.

Honestly this is my favorite Star Wars. This one demonstrates normal flawed people standing up to hopeless odds and this captures the essence of just how high the stakes are and the true menace of the Death Star.
