My wife has a 2020 touring XT and it has lights that come on under the side view mirror's when you approach the car . Not sure if Subaru discontinued that feature..

Considering I own an outback, I think you are being over critical on a lot of areas.... The headlights are very bright., in fact I haven't even had to use them at night because the daytime running lights are so bright. I'm able to drive at night with just those and it still illuminates a good distance and a lot of area.

Great review! I agree on all your points. I own a 23 Outback Touring XT and the lighting is awful. You can get approach lighting as an accessory as well and the floorboard lights but it should be standard on a car that stickers for $45K. It bothers me so much that there is zero ambient lighting and those two shadows that you can see in the headlights is so annoying.

I have a 19 Forester that has steering responsive headlights that are essentially cornering lights. I would have expected the same from a newer Outback. That’s disappointing!
