There is almost no footage of Climo in his prime, in most of the videos he is way over 40, but you can grasp HOW GOOD he really was

Barry Schultz of the all time great started playing before Kenny and could never beat him in his prime

I would have given anything to have had the opportunity to see him play in person. The guy is a legend

My first tournament was the Augusta Disc Golf classic in 1991. The day before the tournament they had doubles. Ken was on my card. I was awestruck.

I love when the young pro disc golfers of today say that KC is not the GOAT when they see the old footage. They are judging by comparing what they see today. But they are missing what is most important to making a judgement. But what if Climo was a young man today? Won’t he have all the same advantages they have? Or what if the young disc golfers of today were young in the early 1990s? Wouldn’t they have the same limitations the players did back then? Yes there is more good competition now, many players have the skills to win a tournament and many do, but that does not stop the best from rising to the top, more often playing better and winning than the rest.
What separates the best from the rest is the mental game, which results in consistant accuracy. The best play at this high level for most of their career. So who has played most of their career with consistant accuracy? In the MPO it’s Ken Climo and Paul McBeth. This is proven in the amount of their Major wins and total wins.
I am not sure about comparable players in the FPO but EK, JK, DR, and VJ all seem to have dominated for about five or so years. Today, Paige Pierce is the GOAT because of her many years of winning. However, I don’t know if any of the previous FPO players mentioned has the consistant accuracy of Kristin Tattar. Her mental game seems unparalleled. If she keeps this up for a few more years she will be unquestionably the GOAT, but she needs more total wins and a few more years of domination. She is well on her way.

what's this I see at 3:24? I've always read and heard that Climo did not throw forehand. And yet that is a great side arm shot.

The greatest disc golfer of his era. Not to knock him at all. But the idea that a player in any sport can forever hold the GOAT status is silly. Disc golf now is more competitive than it's ever been. Disc golf competition from 20 years ago doesn't even come close to the level it is at now.
