Changing Social Norms: Behaviour Change for the Climate

One thing that many or most people arent aware or don't really care is the fact that over half of the land in agriculture production, produce food for factory farmed animals that humans eat every day. Every time the soil is tilled, it releases more co2 that is supposed to stay in the ground. And more and more the life in the soil is depleted. Factory farmed animals themselves create a lot of Co2 along with methane, which is an even worse greenhouse gas. If humans significantly reduce the amount of meat they consume or even dont eat meat at all, all that land that was previously used to produce animal feed can turn back to forest, where trees and other plants can pull that carbon from the air and put it back in the ground where it came from. Changing to a plant based diet also has a side effect of making people healthier if done right.

Let's not forget we are talking about the top10 percent to 20 percent of the world population wealth wise and income wise. The 70 percent aren't causing the climate emergency. Remember Piketty and Chancel's inverted wine glass. It's us, our families, friends and our colleagues we're talking about. And always remember the elephant in the room, the economic system. That said we should do our best individually too, but don't feel guilty about what we can't change about this broken system we live under that oft works to divide us. Good wishes in all you do.
