Poor girl, should've called her though, anyone asking to be paid via an ap or bitcoin should scream fake. I hope they catch the crooks.

Someone tried this years ago at my family restaurant, they claimed to be “state health code inspectors” they wanted to do a “state level inspection” and we would be assessed a fee and could also be fined for any violations they might find.

We refused and asked for their credentials. We called our city health department who then sent city police. The 2 men quickly left before police could arrive.

Why are they blurring out the suspect’s face? His face needs to be shown so others do not fall for this scheme and to help law enforcement.

If I was her boss I would fire her immediately & take her to court. As an employee she has no business authorizing transactions of that amount without speaking to her employer first. It's common sense.

She wanted to help her boss? Call your boss first! They run scams like this all over the country.

Somebody should start a Gofundme for this woman. There is no way she can afford to lose that kind of money.

Was she in on the scam? Why not ask her boss to authorize the payment?

How can an employee have the ability to pay 3K+ out of the register.
It makes no sense.

NEVER make this kinds of payments to anyone, especially if they claim to be GOVERNMENT! Call your LAWYER FIRST!!!

She was dumb enough to believe the scam, but was smart enough to "wire the money/bitcoin" with her own money.

Rather than scolding her for what she CLEARLY KNOWS was a mistake, try to HELP her FIX it and rebuke those who are responsible for lying to and stealing from her.
Pray for their repentance. Pray for them to be forgiven, by God, and all those they have hurt. Pray for their salvation!
And I pray these things, and blessings to all who read this, in Jesus Christ name, Amen. ❤

Shouldn’t she first contacted the owner? I think she was on it with the scammers. She is a scammer herself. Nice try. Arrest that woman

Like H.G. Wells said, there's a sucker born every minute.

Sorry, this person is way too naive about how the world works. Paid $3, 600 to code inspectors? Any inspector might issue citations, but any genuine inspectors are not going to demand money. Basic common sense

No government entity will penalize you by the hour you either receive a fine or close down until meeting safety codes. That would also be the landlords job to do up to code safety. Code Inspectors can issue violation or fine, but payment is by mail or in court. All fines that governemtnt issues, always have a time-frame to pay it, they also allow extensions.

This is so sad, as if small businesses are not dealing with enough stuff.
