Cutting your list down to a top 10? Good freakin' luck, this is The Kinks we're talking about. 24 albums. Dozens of singles. Some of the greatest songs ever written. Yet this was the task that was required of us. So we grudgingly did it.

You Really Got Me, All Day and All of the Night, Where Have All the Good Times Gone, Waterloo Sunset, Village Green, Victoria, Lola, Apeman, Come Dancing, Father Christmas and many, many others were considered.

What made the cut?

Watch the video and then leave your top 10s in the comments.

Tough list to make. And when an album flows as well as Village Green it's hard to pull individual songs out. So, my list for today.
1. Waterloo Sunset
2. Days
3. I'm Not Like Everybody Else
4. See My Friends
5. This Time Tomorrow
6. A Long Way From Home. Those two songs, from Lola, are so well sequenced that I can't think of one wothout the other.
7. Well Respected Man
8. Death Of A Clown
9.Animal Farm
10. Victoria
11. Set Me Free
12. Village Green
13. Dead End Street
14. Fancy
15. Tired Of Waiting
16. This Strange Effect
17. Strangers
18. Get Back In Line
19. David Watts
20. Wicked Annabella

And everyone should check out Dave Davies-Hidden Treasures. It's an attempt to piece together what Dave Davies first solo album may have sounded like. Some of these songs also appeared as extra tracks on Kinks reissues. For a hodgepodge of disparate elements it holds together as a stand alone album.

Just reading the lists of the posters, the song selection for Top 10 or Top 20 is all over the place. Amazing band!

like the Who, the Kinks had such a wealth of great songs in the late 60s, that many great Kinks songs aren't on any studio albums, such as "Berkeley Mews, " "Autumn Almanac, " "Wonder Boy, " "King Kong, " "Mr.Pleasant, " "Big Black Smoke, " "Susannah's Still Alive, " "Mindless Child of Motherhood." 2 studio tracks that I didn't see on anyone's list that are big favs of mine are "David Watts, " and "Mr. Churchill Says."

I really enjoyed this. The Kinks and The Zombies are my two all-time favorite groups. Two songs I love, both of which are very deep cuts, are Good Day from Word of Mouth and Art Lover from Give the People What They Want. I would love for the three of you to do The Zombies. I think you’ll be surprised by how amazing their catalog of work was.

1. Shangri-la
2. Waterloo Sunset
3. Celluloid Heroes
4. Picture Book
5. Get Back in Line
6. Til the End of the Day
7. Days
8. Dead End Street
9. Some Mother's Son
10. Polly
That's just ten that came to mind. So many great songs it's hard to narrow it down.
Honorable mentions: Big Sky, Village Green, Victoria, All Day and All of the Night, Lola, Come Dancing, Australia, Young and Innocent Days, Sunny Afternoon, Fancy, Do You Remember Walter?, Have You Seen His Name?, Love Me til the Sun Shines, God's Children, Apeman, Power man, Strangers, Father Christmas, Living on a thin line, Better Days, and so many more.
The Kinks didn't sing as well or make records that sounded as good as The Beatles, but during their classic period I think their songs were just as good and sometimes even better.

The fact that you have just a couple of the same Top 10 songs in your lists says a lot about the breadth of The Kinks.

1. Waterloo Sunset
2. Days
3. Autumn Almanac (that's a song with an all time great bridge)
