We just finished watching OLD DADS with Bill Burr, and when this song came on at the ending I suddenly found myself singing it and remembering all the the words after all these years ! My wife was dumbfounded to say the least, hahahahaha !!!

I wasn’t alive when this was released but lyrically this hits so hard in 2023, the world is so messed up. Thank you Kinks, these classics will live on forever.

Amazing how many songs from the 60s and 70s are more relevant today than yesterday. Absolutely brilliant!

The Kinks were ahead of their time with both their music and their MTV style video clips.

I am going on 62 y/o, and The Kinks have been in my life as long as I have been alive. Their music still holds up and is relevant today as it was then. Thank you for a lifetime of musical masterpieces!

Saw these guys live at the L.A. Forum on the "One For The Road" tour. To this day still one of the best shows I ever saw. Happy Anniversary, thanks for all the great music, GOD SAVE THE KINKS!

I was a teenager when this song was released.Never the less, I agree with your comment. The lyrics are relevant in 2023.Kind of frightening.Attitudes from the 1970s are the same as today, yet those trusted to do what the people want have avoided taking action in that fifty year time frame.

Lola vs Powerman and the Moneygoround is a masterpiece of an album.
I guess you could say that about most of what the Kinks have done.
You gotta love those coats!

This video is perfect. The scene on the bench, with someone in a ratty ape costume is simply sublime.

This was my favorite song on the radio when I first became a music fan at age 6.. then "Snoopy and the Red Baron" by The Royal Guardsmen.. along with "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" by Napoleon XIV... Mid 1960's radio had a really great sense of humor to complement the British Invasion taking place concurrently, so I was never without some snappy lyrics to amuse my friends with!!! I saw the Kinks in 1979 (early punksters; the Police, actually opened up for them). Definitely one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Who knew they'd be such prodigious influences in pop, rock, and punk!!

The man in the ape suit is John Gosling, piano player extraordinaire, who passed away this weekend. God Save The late, great John The Baptist and God Save The Kinks!
