I'm not sure what specifically the "Decline Now" movement is, but I know I'm not taking a $3 order to go 10+ miles. I'm not out here doing favors, I'm trying to get paid.

My order doesn’t have to equate to $10, but no way will I travel 9 miles for a $7 order, or 18 miles for an $8 order that DD offered me. The mileage and payout have to be profitable.

These comments making DD sound hard as hell. Don't trip, this job is already 10x better than working in any fast food place. remember that

I have made 50 to 60 for a 3 hour shift off of micky D, and Popeyes, and Burger King with my clients only one to three miles away. Mileage is a big indicator of a good sale for me

I don't change the way I work for anything. I work in my parameters and I would never put anyone down for the way they work. They are not my coworkers. I'm an independent contractor. I decline offers I accept offers. I make my money. Nobody else's. Thanks Bentley.

I don't play basketball. But I never take $3 orders.

When I first started I felt obligated to accept all the orders. Time is more important than pay though. Always.

We have no choice but to decline orders that pay less than a $1 a mile or take too long to get. Chipotle after 5:30 PM and Taco Bell after 9:00 PM have minimum 30 minute wait times in my area. Anything below that and I start to pay DoorDash, Uber etc to work for them. That's a pretty insulting way to take a loss. And I have at least one order every other day that goes wrong and that expense comes out MY time to fix THEIR problem. Even with Beans, most apartment complexes in my area are not mapped correctly. I have no idea how 911 finds these people.

This is why I tend to avoid interactions with other people in general. Just constant toxicity.

I hadn't even heard about the decline now thing. But yeah, thanks for informing us here man. It's one thing to overlook the no-tip, three dollar orders, sure, but you're right about the others. Absolutely right on how to cherry pick here. Decline what you can, but if you keep waiting for that 'perfect order', you'll be waiting so long you miss out on the so-so, and okay ones.
DDash isn't about perfection. It's a messy job at times. Fast restaurants can be slow some days. Slow ones can be in and out right away. You could be just about to pick up when you get a second order, meaning you'll have to wait a bit, but it'll be worth it. Traffic of course. And so many other factors. Embrace the mess, work through it, adapt every day, and you'll all be fine!
Great vid, you're totally right here.

I'm about to hit my 3 thousand orders mark! You've been a great help for over a year now man, thanks again for all you do.

I refuse all walmart orders now not only because 99% of them have zero tip but because Walmart customers act entitled and don't appreciate you and you know this by how you're treated by them. Not to mention walmart doesn't respect dashers - makes them wait forever for orders.

My usual metrics: "Will the order make me $7-$10 in 30 minutes so that I can make $15-20 an hour? Will I be able to travel back to my restaurant strip quickly in order to move on to my next order?"

Lots of factors, but in my area there is almost no real reason to ever to take something less than $7 if I'm trying to make at the very least $15 an hour.

Decline Now isn’t really a new idea, they just taking it to the extreme. Everyone has their standard for orders, every area is different.

I respect your videos and insight. Let’s be clear here, the decline movement is about those 3.25 orders fam. The customers that leave ZERO tip and expect you to risk your safety and waste gas for. Your narrative is accurate if we talking 7.50 vs 10.00 dollars. But these 3.25 to 4.25 orders are the problem. No tip, No trip. I respect those who go out there and deliver any type of service. Tipping is apart of life.

“It’s in the strategy not the price” says it all right there. You want more money work smarter not harder

"...holding customer's orders hostage..."?
Wrong. To hold something hostage, you have to TAKE IT HOSTAGE.

We are exercising our rights as independent contractors to accept the orders we wish to accept and decline those we wish to decline. Period

If DoorDash wants to control us so we have to accept every order, they need to hire us as employees with benefits.

The second you leave your house for work you can start counting your miles. Just because you dont have an order in your car doesnt mean you cant claim it on your taxes. If the mileage is for business and not personal you can count it. that includes the drive to work and any deadhead miles in between orders.

I’m ranting but this is how everyone should see it . My fiend wouldn’t deliver me food 10 miles away for $3 but you would ask a total stranger to deliver to you for that price. I do 4 deliveries in a hour at that price I’m just over minimum wage in some states and that doesn’t cover wear and tear on vehicle if I do that consistently. We are considered independent contractors so I am in business to make a profit . How can drivers do that at $3. I will wait for a answer.

There is no such thing as a ”cut and dry” answer, the simple fact is, if it is worth it I accept it, if $4:50 sends me towards where I want to be, or the gas station I like, easy delivery or home near the end of my shift, or one of the other 101 reasons it’s worth it
Dam right I take it

Too many people in the comments with their opinion 😂 just watch the damn video. Take orders that work for you simply said.
