A few weeks ago, I waxed rhapsodic about Darn Tough wool socks, but I recently received some socks from @pakaapparel (PAKA Apparel). They're made from alpaca fiber, and they definitely give the Darn Tough socks a run for their money.

PAKA Apparel provided these products for review.

Thanks Bradley 👍🏻, i have a few pairs of merino wool socks that my son bought me , .. to me they are the best socks i have ever had like you i work outside with the railway, even in the coldest winter weather they keep my feet nice and warm .

I might check these out. I've been using Grip 6 (I think they may have had an add before one of your vids) and I now hate cotton socks.

My feet don't stink either which I always thought was weird.

I'll have to add some facts to your claim that lanolin is an allergen at 4:00. Quite often it's the roughness of the wool that causes irritation, not the lanolin. Some people don't realize this until they try socks made out of a super soft wool material.

I love my alpaca socks!
Much -much-much better then Merino.
42 % Alpaca is noticeably better then Merino.
47% hugely better. About the difference between cotton socks and Merino.
After a few long hikes there is a vague earthy smell . Not the pungent/rancid smell of old cotton or the heavy dog smell of sheep's wool. Just a faint fresh dirt or maybe dry leaf smell. The smell may be from my leather boots.
Hollow Socks for me. Boot socks are superb, the crew socks are great for everyday. I'm conflicted if the compression socks are worth it.
I hope that helps.

While wearing my extra thick wool socks I got mild frostbite on my toes. I haven't been able to feel the toes on my left foot for about a month now. I'm looking for some better socks.

Alpaca and silk blend for a thin ski sock would be interesting.

I love alpaca socks. Have you thought about trying buffalo wool socks. You should contact Buffalo Wool Company and try a pair of their socks.

Interesting. I guess I am a guy that never looked into socks, other then active wear socks, like for running and skiing. Other then that, it was white tube socks or as I was a runner for so many years I would take my old running socks out of rotation along with my shoes. Then wore them to work as I was a physical therapist. Thank you for sharing.

Would you say they are 4 season socks?

I’ll buy some and let you know. I have 2 pair of heavy duty wool socks I wear only when it gets to being exceptionally wet, slushy with melted snow or just plain freezing. I started a new job on wind turbines now and haven’t seen the cold yet but when I was cutting trees, I was in the elements all day, everyday….rain, snow, sleet, nobody cared. If my boots were good, my feet would still sweat all day, and I could wear them things everyday for weeks…seriously, no stink. When my feet got wet, even the wetness felt warm…all day knee deep in snow through the yards and ankle high in slush on the street. They dry overnight…never skipped a beat. Amazing socks! But they were pretty thick and just too warm for year round.

I have a light, alpaca jacket that is ridiculously warm…comparable to a heavy Lester Anorak.

I’ll give these crew socks a go and I’ll just abuse the shiz out off them this fall n winter

What does this have to do with pipe smoking?

Thanks Bradley! I was thinking of getting Paka socks, but was concerned about the durability compared to DarnTough. Can you help provide an update on the durability?

you said 28 compared to 20 and a few seconds later said 28 compared to because of buying a 3 pak . was the 28 price of the darn tough a 3 pak???? lets be fair here. also were the alpaca socks a more top of the line for that brand?

And FYI, your lucky. No stinky feet. I have to change my shoes every day and that's how I owned as many as 120 pairs of shoes. I am down to 60 now. As far as sweat, I start sweating wait.... I just have always sweat. From a kid to adult. Sweat just texting this. Sad.😂 thos are not tears, that is my eye balls sweating.
