Horizon Forbidden West PC Review - A NEW BENCHMARK For PC Ports

When it first came out on the PS5, Horizon Forbidden West was praised for being an excellent follow-up to Horizon Zero Dawn, already an incredibly fun open world adventure game. Burning Shores on the PS5 continued this trend, while making further use of more modern hardware with gorgeous vistas and engaging gameplay. The PC release, however, has set a new benchmark for just how well a port can be developed.

The PC version of Horizon Forbidden West includes just about every feature you can imagine, including more niche ones like support for ultrawide monitors. For the larger majority of PC gamers, however, the game also features incredible optimization across a wide range of hardware. This means that, as long as your PC has parts made in the last few years, it’ll probably run Horizon Forbidden West incredibly well.

Its definitely worth a play but dont forget to do the side missions those are some of the best parts of the game. They take you to places in the map that you normally cant explore.

Am loving the game, I was a huge fan of the 1st game and couldn't wait for the 2nd game to come to PC. The game runs amazing have zero complaints well done devs and the people that worked on porting it well done 👏👏👏

Everyone was asking "Why is Horizon Forbidden West coming out at the same time as Dragon's Dogma 2?" when the real question should have been

"Why did Dragon's Dogma 2 come out at all?" since it was obviously unfinished and needed another couple of months in the oven

Nixxes, can everyone say out loud what a great job they are doing with the console ports? To support such developers, I happily paid full price for the game, and I didn't even wait for sales, which I often do when I'm waiting for the pc game to be fixed.

On the same Hardware with max settings, i get better performance than in the first game

This game is graphically beautiful, believe me youtube compression really downgrades what you see compared in person, Im playing it on LG C3 oled and its eyegasm for me

I'm more curious how Dragon's Dogma 2 muddy skyrim graphics perform worse than this beautiful looking game.

Not everybody is having the same experience. Some, I included, are having stuttering and fps drops, mostly in cutscenes. I have some texture flickering, problems with Depth of Field showing irregularities around people in focus (maybe a DLSS problem these two issues) and HDR not working correctly. It needs some patching for sure. Any card with 8GB of VRAM, as far as I've seen, is having problems.

I only play on PC and only with keyboard and mouse.

Horizon Zero Dawn is basically one of my favourite games of all time.

Just started with FW and its great so far, I see the controller limitation here and there, but it's really not that bad, got used to it pretty quickly and accuracy with a mouse is super important for me since I always turn auto aim off since I see it as a cheat.

Great game. Hopefully they further improve melee combat in the third game. Would be nice to use the sword and shield that rebel leaders and champions use.
