Once upon a time I bought my property that was just below the high-risk altitude. My home insurance was never low but reasonable for the state. Then one day Moonbeam Brown was paid off and he lowered the altitude cut-off for high risk. My insurance tripled in cost. The insurance and tax costs have made living on my SSI almost impossible! I have the title to my home but it will never be paid off!!!

The important word is that the insurance companies will be increasing rates. It would seem to me that the safest place to have a home in California is an area that has had a recent fire sweep through, after all is there anything left to reburn?
