What happened when R2-D2 attempted a solo mission to rescue a captured C-3PO? As the rebels countered an Imperial siege on Tureen VII, Darth Vader dispatched the elite Scar Squadron to deal with them. Even though the rebel heroes broke the siege, Scar Squadron captured their protocol droid, C-3PO.

While the Imperials attempted to extract valuable rebel secrets, R2-D2 commandeered an X-wing and launched a solo rescue mission. Arriving at the Star Destroyer C-3PO was being held at, R2 powered down the X-wing and the Imperials pulled in the drifting starfighter. Dispatching the containment team, the astromech made his way to the ship’s interior, avoiding patrol squads and eliminating those who got too close. R2-D2 finally reached his counterpart’s cell and set him free. Together, they made a daring escape in the X-wing, but their mission was far from over. With Darth Vader relentlessly pursuing them, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo swooped in, providing a distraction that allowed all of them to escape the clutches of the Sith and make the jump into hyperspace.
