So many of us have vintage treasures, and they’re folded and stored because we don’t know how to proceed.

Must they be custom quilted?

Is it even ok to machine quilt them at all?

What kind of batting or thread may I use?

Let’s talk while I quilt!

The all-over feather design used for this quilt is one of my all-time favorites. It's great one for vintage treasures, but also for many other quilts, both traditional and contemporary. It creates great texture, and because it's so curvy, it's very helpful for taming excess fabric or uneven piecing.

I like to think the original maker of a vintage top is smiling down from heaven to see that her quilt is finally begin finished so it can be loved. 100 years ago they didn’t have quilt police or purists. (Ok maybe they did) Long arm quilting wasn’t even in their vocabulary as they hand quilted away at a frame at a quilting bee. I’ll bet they would have squealed for joy if they had been introduced to the tools we have today. Finish the vintage tops!!
