iOS 18.1 Released: Try These Apple Intelligence Features NOW!

Apple today released iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, the first major updates to the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates that came out in September. iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 come six weeks after the release of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

The new software can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings - General - Software Update.

Apple Intelligence is the main draw in iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, and some of the first Apple Intelligence features are available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, any iPhone 16 model, or any iPad with an M-series or A17 Pro chip. Note that Apple Intelligence is launching in a beta capacity, and there will be a short waitlist initially. To opt in to Apple Intelligence, you'll need to open up the Settings app, go to Apple Intelligence and Siri, and toggle it on.

Very dissapointed with official 18.1. The 18.1 RC had me hopeful because the battery is amazing compared to 18.0.1. I had 12 hours and change with the 16 Pro Max. I don't think apple is testing each version correctly. I just turned off updates after manually going back to 18.1 RC until the battery drain issue is addresed.

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, which was previously running on iOS 17.6. I didn’t install iOS 18.0, so today, when Apple launched iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence for the iPhone 15 Pro and above, I downloaded and updated directly from 17.6 to 18.1. The update was about a 4GB, but I noticed that the description primarily highlighted the iOS 18 features without specifically mentioning Apple Intelligence.

After updating to iOS 18.1, I found that none of the Apple Intelligence features appeared on my phone, which is quite strange. When I go to Settings > General > Software Update, it says my iPhone is running iOS 18.1 and is up to date, with no further updates available.

I’m quite frustrated by this and am unsure why it happened. Do you know if there’s a fix for this?

So on my IPhone 15 Pro Max, I did not get Apple intelligence and Siri is still just the same old ball. I went into the Apple intelligence & Siri and had a link stating I would be put on an Apple Intelligence wait list. I'm getting so weary of all the hype and then still waiting.

I have an issue with the photos app while creating a memory video in photos app after updating it to 18.1 it shows and error of currently unavailable more photos and videos need to process to create a memory iPhone processes photos and videos while connected to power is the notification I am getting
