Really dope concept. Would love to have one, even just for late night walks. Don't think I'd appreciate carrying this on a hike andd falling on it, but it looks like its being marketed as a tactical knife and not an EDC knife. Cool af either way

Very convenient for self defense and tactical use only. For EDC knife, not so much.

Just use a fixed knife with a sheath. I have a sheath & it actually holds my folded knives (tried it just for humor 🤭 didn't think it'd work). Now I put it in the sheath (unfolded) when I'm in higher crime areas & fold it & put it in my pocket in safer areas. Sometimes there will be a safe neighborhood then a bad neighborhood then a safe one, etc. So now I can just switch it. Unfold it, stick it in the sheath one minute & then fold it & stick it in my pocket the next. I have all types of neighborhoods in my city so I'm switching it all the time.

So many issues with the WAVE. Grip to open, position after opening, harder to pull knife out without opening. Just carry a small fixed blade like a Benchmade SOCP.

Sorry Emerson, you guys are ridiculously-priced for low-income blokes like me. I AM going to get me an Emerson Karambit at some point (and a Fox, but first I'm getting the Spyderco P'Kal which uses your E-opener, on sale for around $100-120, an the nastiest fighting knife I've ever seen, and I've seen a fuck-ton, like many of us :D ).

TLDR Summary: Before poor blokes like me can afford wonderful knives like Fox, Spyderco (P'kal #1, Karahawk #3, Fox #2 or Emerson, tied, in terms of which I go for first for these style of blades, the P'kal just gets my blood-up in terms of epicness). But, if you want something damn close and almost as awesome? $30-35 you can get the Kershaw CQC 6k and 7k (one is a drop-point tanto, which is epic for the type of handle it is given, you can "P'kal" this blade, the other is a standard drop-point, I think a saber-grind). At least there you not only get a good product, nad as far as SELF-DEFENSE (As in cutting weak-ass human flesh and tendons) you even 440 is fine, but these use a fantastic 8cr13mov, perfect for the price (got me a Cara-Cara Byrd/aka Spyderco Endura and you can't tell the difference in terms of using it for self-defense)- As self-defense, those blades won't fail you. I would recommend something small like the tops Grim Reaper and/or the BK-11 or D'Eskabar (/w micarta handles, the D'eskabar has some for real cheap, the BK-11 is  essentially 70 bucks for the blade and the handles, I still got mine skeletal which is fine, the material on it grips like a madman)

You got a Tops Grim Reaper, some boxing/fma/jeet kun do/P'kal fghting knowledge along with a Spyderco P'kal or Emerson Karambit? It'd take 1% of the 1% of the planet that can fight (let alone trains daily) on any level whatsoever to even come close to taking you out in  a h2h or weapon-to-weapon situation.

Further Elaboration and personal opinion:

At any rate, I highly recommend those, the Emerson Fixed and Folding Karambits, Fox (Italian-made awesomeness, as far as materials go, I think Spyderco has both of 'em beat more or less but it's allll good, baby). I can promise you this: Fox, Spyderco, Emerson, they're all onthe same "wave-length" (I made a punny!). They all use awesome steel, they all use great materials, they all interact with each other and the top blade designers seem to all kinda know each other. You can't go wrong with the Spyderco Karahawk no more than you can the Fox or Emerson equivilent. I will say this though: Spyderco has one-upped both of the other contrasted companies (let's throw Kershaw in there, too, though I have seen one tanto-edged E-openeer they use that could be used like the P'kal), they got the P'Kal and that is hands-down one of the best EDC Self-Defense knives on the planet. You learn to use it and it can do longer cuts and do more damage than the 7" (blade, I think 12-13" total) Ka-Bar Tanto I got on my hip right now, or my BK-11 o the other side, or the Tasman Salt in my pocket, I'm sane like that. *giggles*

I'd also recommend Karambit(dot)com or amazon over the actual company websites, sorry Emerson, but you guys still listing some of these at $200+ is ridiculous when amazon has 'em 50-100 bucks cheaper.

Make no mistake, Emerson, Fox, the customs over at Karambit(dot)com, the really well made damascus steel fixed blades, Spyderco. These are the fuckin' Ferrari of combtive knives.
