Drone Reveals Bizarre 4,000-Year-Old ‘Mole Town’ Where People Live Entirely Underground
Drone footage captures this Chinese mole town from above

With a few notable exceptions (looking at you, scientists on Antarctica), humans civilizations tend to center on easy-to-reach areas. Most of the greatest cities in history sprouted up along major waterways for a reason, after all. This is part of what makes one secretive, 4,000-year-old Chinese town so fascinating.

To even get a peek of this remote place, nicknamed the “mole town,” the world needed to use drones. Nonetheless, people have called it home for a millennia, largely undisturbed. Now, this amazing aerial drone footage of the ancient city has been made available to the public, and it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before…

God, we are so arrogant. After dude tells us that these amazing underground structures are 4, 000 years old and that their natural thermal heating and cooling keeps them between 50 and 68 degrees year round with no energy expenditure, he then goes on to smugly inform us that once modern, civilized people came upon these poor primitives they graciously provided them with modern utilities and made these 4, 000 year-old structures "earthquake proof"!
Sure, 'cuz we modern sophisticates live in houses that are more energy efficient and will obviously last longer...
Didn't it occur to the moron who wrote this that if these structures had lasted for 4, 000 years, they might already be...what's the word?...oh, yeah, earthquake proof?
