"Layers of Fear serves up a series of atmospheric and often surreal trips through the shattered psyches of some seriously tortured artists. It’s made all the more eye-catching thanks to Unreal Engine 5, and the addition of the flashlight provides some interesting new ways to both interact with your surroundings and mitigate the frustration of the stalker encounters previously suffered in the original games. However, its sleight of hand scare tactics are still all too clearly telegraphed and this predictable formula grew stale long before I reached the end of each of its main story threads. Ultimately Layers of Fear comes across as a largely scare-free 13-hour crawl through a string of mildly creepy hallways as opposed to a truly terrifying trek into darkness."

So they put someone on this review who wasn't a fan of the previous 2 games & with this basically being a reimagined version of those games on Unreal with added content wouldn't you think to put someone on this to review it that actually enjoyed the previous games?

Well, a remastered/remade definitive edition of all previous entries + new content seems like pretty great value

Wow, been playing the game. Looking fantastic in UNREAL engine 5 and the binaural audio is noticeably pretty cool.
The beautiful lighting and graphics convey (so well) the spooky atmosphere. Lovin' it!

As a HUGE horror fan especially psychological horror games this game is beautifully done amazing graphics that put you in the game with great horror and suspense to keep you wanting more...definitely higher than a 6. I'd say 8/10

Makes me concerned for silent hill 2 remake seeing as most of their horror games have been average at best !

Friendly reminder, Unreal Engine 5 at the end of the day is still a tool for developers. So don't expect games to magically be better with graphics alone.

Remake is way better than a 6/10. It’s also both main games, a new story, and the DLC combined into one entire package.

I’ve just finished the first game, and now onto the 2nd and it’s been great so far. Graphics are insane.

Literally sounds like this guy just hated the other games and didn't give this a chance either. Imagine if reviewers actually reviewed games based upon the actual full package and not just sharing a bunch of opinions

Well, this video prompted me to google if there was a Layers of Fear VR, and lo and behold there is. That will be the best way to play any of this for obvious reasons
