When I was a teen our boy (cat) brought in a dead bird and took it right to the kitchen to my mom. She took it from him and took it back outside where it flew off and our boy just sat there, tears literally falling in sorrow. Another time he caught a big crow ( he was a big muscled cat and could leap straight up about 4 to 5 feet) and he stood in the garden, admiring his catch. He stroked the crow with his paw, so proud, petting the feathers. Finally he stepped back to gaze at it in admiration and it flew off. He was shocked it left him. The crows stopped coming to our yard after that. He never wanted to kill the birds, he just wanted them for his very own. :)

Such gentle beasts!! They have the softest mouth with their humans and their toys, but let a threat get too close and you’ll see a different dog. Fierce, dependable, loyal, loveable amd drooly AF!
