My high school daughter asked me the other day, as she is getting introduced to the music of the late 70's, 80's and a bit from the 90's (thanks to Tik Tok), who the best from that era was. I had to sit and think about it for a while. I thought about Freddie and even Eddie Vedder, but then I said, nope, the best, the absolute best, at his prime, was Axl Rose. Anyone, I mean anyone, who was in high school when this song came out had this album and would blast it driving down the road. This song is the epitome of his greatness; an amazing ballad that shows off his vocal talent. Sometimes God smiles down on people and touches them; Axl was, luckily for us, one of the ones who put that blessing to good use.

I was only 10 when the song was released, but even for me it stands among the most emotional songs ever. I cannot beleive what a load of emotions and memories from my teens it gets from me. I start crying after couple of first Axls verses. Oh God. Love, love, love. (I am 42 now, happily married, two children🙂

What I really regret about this band is that they have never performed or promoted their current singles live on television. Then, I'm sure, we would have the opportunity to hear the best performances of those songs. But knowing what a jerk Axl was, it's no wonder why they weren't on TV. I assume that he did not attend the sound-technical rehearsal at this event either, or he probably came a few hours late, having previously been persuaded and begged by the group members. I don't know how you got this video and what you possibly did with it, because the quality is perfect. Also, something tells me that I will not be wrong if I write that this performance is the most faithful to the original. Thank you very much! 🍻 from Steve.
