Lake Suwa sits to the southeast of the Shinshu Watch Studio, where Grand Seiko crafts all Spring Drive watches. SLGA019 is inspired by this serene body of water, with a dial pattern that evokes minamo, the gentle sway of the water surface of Lake Suwa, with ripples emulating the water’s shallow waves that sparkle whenever the dial catches the light.

Representative of the Evolution 9 Style, the 40mm High-Intensity Titanium case has a lower profile and center of gravity, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist. Its faceted mid-case features a blend of Grand Seiko’s Zaratsu polishing and hairline finishing, giving the whole watch a dynamic look. This level of finishing is accomplished by hand as it demands a high degree of skill.

Powered by Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2, SLGA019 has a notable 120-hour (5-day) power reserve and an improved accuracy of ±0.5 seconds per day, or ±10 seconds per month. 9RA2 takes the power-reserve indicator off the dial and moves it to the case back side of the watch. The seconds hand glides across the SLGA021’s textured blue dial, evoking the nature of time.

And one body of water to the southeast of the Shinshu Watch Studio, the home of Spring Drive, is a perfect example.

The dial of SLGA019 evokes the surface of Lake Suwa and its gentle waves in the early morning hours when a breeze stirs the long, shallow lake. The blue dial manifests different colors depending on the angle at which it catches the light, reinforcing the connection to wind moving across and changing the surface of the water.

The case and bracelet are High-intensity titanium, a metal 30 percent lighter than steel and highly resistant to rust, corrosion and scratches.

Powering the SLGA019 is the Caliber 9RA2 Spring Drive movement, assembled by the skilled artisans of the Shinshu Watch Studio and capable of approximately 120 hours (5 days) of operation when fully wound. I'd prefer Lake Suwa with a mid afternoon breeze and some lume.

007 because of the golden elements (GS logo, seconds hand, clasp logo) which make it the most beautiful hands down and because it's a limited edition... oh and maybe because I own it :) The 019 is really nice too. I'm not quite sure why the 021 even exists to be honest. It's nice too but it's too dark and the beautiful Lake Suwa texture doesn't show as much.
