Kevin McHale has no argument over James Harden..Not even close. We're comparing an MVP to a great player that came off the bench. McHale was never a top 5 player.

Let’s not disrespect Nique like that.. he was once 2nd in MVP voting (in a league with Bird, Magic, Kareem, Hakeem, Moses, Isiah), made All-NBA 1st that year, scoring champ too! In terms of peak/prime, Melo is not above Wilkins. McHale might have a case but his peak was extremely short lived (mostly due to injuries). If we’re talking about overall careers, I can definitely see arguments being made for Carmelo or McHale above Wilkins.. but, if we’re talking careers someone like Bob Cousy has to be above I believe pretty much all of them except Jordan. Cousy won MVP, Cousy won 6 rings, he’s the best PG of his era!

Some other great 3rd picks… Pistol Pete, Grant Hill, Embiid, Penny, Luka, Gasol, Nate Thurmond, Tatum, Abdul-Rauf…..

Tim Duncan brought more to the team that drafted him #1 than any of those. Just saying if you got the fortune of drafting #1, which one of those teams would you have rather been when all was said and done?🤷‍♂️ you want guys that wind up leaving you for greater glory in other uniforms, or the guy at becomes the face of your franchise for 20 seasons and brings you 5 rings?

Otherwise this is just another goat list which i still dont think puts shaq over Duncan.

Kareem has more rings and mvps than lebron and went to the finals 10x and he was healthy plus 7’2 im taking him over lebron without a doubt. And had the most unstoppable move ever and won 3 rings in college and is considered the best college player ever. oddly if someone replicated that they would say he is the best basketball player of all time 💯

Tim Duncan is the Greatest #1 Pick. 3 of the ones listed left the teams that drafted them. 20 years of Duncan >>> like 7 years or Shaq or 10 years of Lebron. Then it becomes Magic vs Duncan. Duncan gets the nod since he transformed a Franchise whereas Magic won at a place that won before him and won after him. Als, let's be real. There is 0 reality where Magic would stay in in CHA or MIL if that was the team that drafted him #1.
