I've been a front end tech for 42 years and I have to say this is the first tech on YouTube that actually explains this properly kudos to you. I've also had excessive play in the steering gear cause this as well. The best steering gear I've found for replacement is a redhead gear out of auburn Washington give them a try 👍

He had good information and seemed honest

The answer is caster. Can happen on newer trucks too. If caster angle is too positive, death wobble will happen. Anything less than 4 degrees of negative caster will increase chances of death wobble.

Worn out front end bushings often lead to caster becoming more positive.

Bro, I was just watching the video and see the truck driving through my apartment complex. That is crazy. Small world.

Just had this happen on my 2016 F-250 6.7L Powerstroke.
We were on our way to Pensacola, FL to meet up with some old friends. I bought the truck (used) in 2020 with 88, 000 miles on it. The dealer I purchased it from had put a brand-new set of Nexen Roadian AT tires on it.
Lately I noticed that the truck has been pulling very slightly to the right when driving it. By now (April 2025) I had put about 30, 000 miles on the truck and tires, and that it may not be a bad idea to get the alignment checked when we got back from Pensacola to our home in Central Florida (Leesburg),
As we got close to Destin, the front end abruptly started shaking violently and settled down as the speed decreased, but still had a lot of noticeable vibration. I got off the interstate and took the slower local roads to Pensacola. I had heard about the notorious "death wobble" and suspected that a new set of tie-rod ends/ball joints was in my future.
Found a local Ford dealer (World Ford in Pensacola), and in spite of it being a crazy Monday, they squeezed me into their already busy schedule.
Got a text from them late that afternoon, and they found no issues with the front-end components. Other than the alignment being slightly off, everything else was still good and tight.
So they did a dynamic force-test on the tires, and discovered that the tires were separating internally. My Advisor told me that anything over 60 is cause for concern and my tires were averaging over 340, and they were surprised the tires hadn't failed altogether.
So, they put a new set of Michelin Defenders on the truck, did a re-alignment, and had me back on the road by the next morning. And now it drives as smoothly as my wife's Cadillac.
Kudos to World Ford for their outstanding customer service!!

It’s “interesting” in an F-450 class C motor home while stuff is flying around in the back and I was trying to keep it on the road!!
This was one of those times that you see your life flash before you very eyes!!

My 2010 F350 began death wobble the first month from brand new. Ford couldn’t fix it. A private shop said he could fix it, he did. Never did it again.

Put a duel steering stabilizer on it. That will knock out about 90% of it

I remember having an 1989 f350 work truck and between 2 dealerships they replaced everything on the front end, I remember the bearings where 1200 but nothing changed it. Donated it to a farm with a nearly new engine...

On my 6 liter, it was the steering gear box.

Caster will help but the absolute fix for the death wobble is to replace the track bar with an aftermarket one that deletes the ball joint!
Putting a ball joint on a track bar is an engineering brain fart!

Only the Chevy/GMC trucks don't get that.
