Also, why have a kid and make them have to deal with the environmental catastrophe we are creating for ourselves? That's just cruel.

Birth rates in the US are down to 1.64 now and in Ca down to 1.52.

Back when children became free farm labor by the age of 6, and later became the only form of pension insurance, birth rates were high. Once putting money into savings and investments did a much better job ensuring retirement, it turned children from asset to liability.


This is also why there are so many countries that are dirt poor but have birth rates of about 5 children per woman.
