What actually stops the forward progress? If it was torque he would be revving and the tires not moving, but the tires are turning and he just isn't going forward. Did he need more speed at the beginning? Tire tread that got clogged up with mud?

What a joke...the 454 has so much torque going for it, and horsepower...the 302 never had a chance, the rear ends come into play, tires, weight, etc....plus the Ford was slow on takeoff...i'm sure all the gm people were tickled pink at the whole scene...ford's 460 motor would've eat that gm junk alive...
