Elon Musk's SpaceX launched four astronauts on a flight to the International Space Station. It marks Nasa's first fully-fledged mission sending a crew into orbit aboard a privately owned spacecraft.

SpaceX's newly designed Crew Dragon capsule lifted off atop the Falcon 9 rocket from Nasa's Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

It represents a new era of commercially developed spacecraft - owned and operated by a private company rather than a national space agency - for sending Americans into orbit.
