RuneScape's first and oldest glitch was one that Jagex couldn't seem to patch. Every few months a new variation of it would pop up and wreak havoc on the RuneScape Classic Community. This is its untold story.

Finally, an explanation for why everyone and their mother in RuneScape demands alcohol to proceed with a quest. They knew of its power! This also explains why one of my earliest memories of RS was Spinach Rolls being super rare and coveted for some mysterious reason, so when I overheard someone getting one from Trailborn (since we could all see the npc dialogue) I was like "zomg how did you do that?" (pretty sure I either hadn't started the quest or finished it already, no spinach rolls for me.)

Sidenote that quirk about talking to npcs was also the reason why most banks to this day in older areas have a whole bunch of bankers instead of something like a bank chest. Sometimes we even had clones of the same quest npc for popular quests, like a bunch of gnome kings in Tree Gnome Stronghold.

As soon as you mentioned spinach rolls I knew it was coming. I’ve seen naive players loose bank to the spinach roll scam. I always found it amusing people trading rares and god armour which were quite valuable at the time for a spinach roll. The OG crypto bros.😂

There's a scam that started from around then still active on servers today.

I only remember training smithing (and mining) during an era without bank access. Few minutes of run from forge to the mining spot and you got basically 10 bars each time. Now that's a grind. Not to mention that you had to carry some food as there were enemies as well.

Technically yes, beer/alcohol doesn't raise your strength. But since alcohol lowers your inbition, and most people are at least slightly reserved, drinking can allow you to punch harder than you might totally sober :^)
