Ubuntu 20.04 Tutorial: Ubuntu Full Disk Encryption Install With LUKS

Показать описание

With remote work becoming the new normal and cyber threats becoming more powerful and sophisticated, enabling full disk encryption on Linux machines using LUKS is one effective way to keep data on physical devices secure. LUKS is free, provides complete encryption, and allows users to manage numerous keys and passwords.

Note that if you are using LUKS to encrypt a Linux machine, full hard drive or SSD encryption can only be performed during the installation process. This means that you will need to reinstall Ubuntu if you are currently running it and would like to encrypt it. Always be sure to back your files up in a secure location before proceeding with an OS reinstallation.

now we got 24 Ubuntu. i wonder how different it is. i guess ui is different. i guess the main point is to choose LVM. another point to encrypt the /home folder (you seems missed that part). in my case if I re installing.. new v. i can choose for now encrype the / root.. then later on encrypt the /home.. which is not encrypted now..
