A 100% READY TO SAIL 38' Classic Racer-Cruiser [Full Tour] Learning the Lines

This vessel, in spite of its age, has gone through a complete refit in 2009/2010 and will stand against any comparable vessel built today. The owners have records of everything that has been done to her. Using current materials and technology, she now far exceeds how she was originally built and with constant updating and improvements by her dedicated owners she outshines the competition.

New Zealand naval architect Alan Warwick designed the CT-38 for maximum blue water speed for the demanding conditions of the Tasman Sea. Her deck is laid out for racing efficiency. This boat will be at home in any ocean; The Tasman, Caribbean, Chesapeake Bay, you name it and she will take you there in comfort.

Red Jacket V is an exceptional vessel and should honestly be considered a Custom Yacht. The owners have gone above and beyond in the maintenance and improvements of this vessel. Due to their love and passion for sailing they poured their hearts and finance into her and it shows. They have enjoyed her but realize it is now time for someone else to carry her on and they have made sure that she needs nothing and will fly thru any survey. This boat is in true sail away condition.

I love the fact you are one of the few who brings us these wonderful boats from around the world.

I worked with the designer, Alan Warwick, and he had a great eye for details, shapes and practical function. The 38's were a wonderful set up for cruising with a lot packed into the size. The interior looks like New Zealand Kauri timber, but possibly has a stain applied (perhaps in one of the refits?). Thanks for the video - great work!

She definitely stands out easily. (Also nice seeing a boat from my cruising grounds as a youth)
Thanks for the tour 👍🏻

The quality of the build is outstanding. You can see it every where. On the deck every screw head is facing the same exact direction. I may need to go take a look at that one.

Always have a fondness for these 80’s designed racer/cruisers with their “IOR-ish” lines.

This is a great boat. I've admired it for a year now on the hard at HHN. Fantastic build quality and the owner has really done a magnificent job with maintenance. The topsides and bottom are immaculate. Is it worth $140K? For the right buyer it will be. This will be someone who wants to go places and wants a robust hull and proper sea-going design.

As much as I like the fact that this channel choses to video some great older boats, it would be fitting and proper for a channel named "Learning the Lines" to actually discuss something about the design, the construction, and the intended purpose of such craft. This boat would clearly be a very good performing boat in a range of conditions. It has moderate proportions, a nice fin keel, and skeg hung high aspect rudder. The moderate displacement (I'm sure it's much closer to 20K lbs in the slings) and U shaped hull sections and symmetrical waterlines fore/aft should offer exceptional all-round performance. Looks to me to be a great compromise boat for a couple to sail long distance and even live on. If you are creating a video for a boat on the hard, spend some time on the ground and discuss the hull shape, appendage design, and also evaluate the condition of the bottom. I think that was one of the things Capt Q did pretty well, even if he was off on some of the details.

Red Jacket is a good name!

It's the name of a clipper ship, chartered by the Pre-Ismay White Star Line, that would set a trans-atlantic speed record that would stand for a century; her captain, Asa Eldridge, would go on to be a captain for the Collins Line, and was captain of the ill-fated _SS Pacific_ when she disappeared with all hands.

very clever show the use of the door, how many feet it has, is it made entirely of fiber and what is the price of a boat like this.

Jordan, I have two questions for you: I'm sure I won't be the first to ask if you could have a change of heart about posting the price of your boats? It's the only thing that is a detraction for your most excellent channel-easily the best of its kind. Which reminds me to observe just that I hope you are getting a fair price for what you do? Because everyone deserves a fair go, as we say in Australia! 😊

Loved the CT 38 Warwick. Loved them even more seeing them being built at Ta Chio yards in 1983/84. Ta Chia was know for high end custom sailboats and trawlers. These were solid built boats. Got a CT 47 cutter rigged designed by Wayn Chen but had it signed off by Kaufmann. They should have kept it under their name given Kaufmann messed with them and they discontinued building it. They still build high end custom boats.

What could be a potential downside to those type of folding cleats at 1:49?

Surprised that you didn't make mention of the very unconventional location for the microwave oven. Also no mention of where the emergency tiller is located.

Very clean looking design but slightly out of my range
