Woof. This is easily one of the worst looking movies of the year. And it's thematic! As a few years back this movie went shoulder-to-shoulder with another video game adaptation in development hell - The FNAF Movie! But with production clearly being the surprise good ending, this live action Minecraft movie looks to very much be the bad ending. From strange casting, to horrendous green screening, unusual branding decisions and too many people being passed to. This movie looks straight terrible. And this is just the first trailer. My biggest issue is that it's not animated. They tried to make a square sheep look real and it just doesn't work. The people are so out of place

The least they could have done was style Jack black's beard to be square, help give more of the 'steve' vibe and show he's adapted to living in this place. instead He... it's just Jack black.

I bet you, the movie will end with the main characters preparing to leave and they offer to take Steve with them but he'll say something like "no, this is my home now"

The animal Mobs are hideous and so uncanny. I do not like them at all.

I'm gonna make a bingo-game out if this. Feel free to add predictions to the list:
- Characters split up before the climax
- Protagonists all have shitty social lives, but will come together as a band of misfits o/s
- Creeper? Aw, man reference
- "what IS this place?" (probably my free space)
- An enemy will get a really intimidating introduction, only for the camera to zoom out and reveal he's not threatening at all
- Jack Black singing a song
- Someone will hit a tree in frustration, the chunk pops to a little cube, everyone looks shocked
- Steve is originally from our world, but has accidentally been stuck in the Minecraft world for years
- Audience insert protagonists will ask directions to a villager, the villager completely ignores them
- someone gets beaten up hard offscreen while the camera zooms on a protagonist making goofy faces
- "well that just happened"/"He's behind me, isn't he?"/...

I'm glad Scott rejected the script WB made for the FNaF Movie and went to Blumhouse instead.

One thing that bothers me... WHY are there Piglins in the Overworld? They literally zombify if they leave the Nether. They fundamentally should not be able to be the villains of this movie. In Minecraft Legends they at least had a reason for the Piglins being able to go through (using Nether Spreaders to convert their bases to the Nether and stuff like that), but here's they're just kinda chilling with no issue.

And Sonic The GOD DAMN Hedgehog continues to set the bar too high for live action video game movies. Not EVERY video game movie NEEDS to be live action, and it looks like the only ones that WORKED in that setting are Detective Pikachu and Sonic..For some reason. If you had looked me in the eye back when we had Ugly Sonic and said "no no wait it out give them 4 months, they're gonna change Sonic to make him look cute, and the movie is gonna be so lit and make so much money that they're gonna have TWO MORE with Knuckles, Tails and Shadow in them." I'd have laughed in your face.
