Echo is a perfect counter-balance to Jocko's inspiring insanity. He always brings it down to the level of a "normal human being" and gets Jocko to peel back the layers and look at it from that point of view as well. Very lucky to be able to watch these two gentleman converse so often.

Every single time I listen to this podcast I am amazed at how unbelievably full of useful, practical, and necessary information every single podcast has. I even imagine every podcast at the start will be the one that is a disaster and I am instantly proven wrong within the first 5 minutes of every single podcast. For people that think they have a seemingly meaningless job, responsibility, or thing that needs attended to. I pray you stumble upon jockos podcast and you can fill supposed useless time with the extraordinary advice jocko, echo, and the many distinguished guests have to offer.

I can’t get enough of this banter. You’ve produced a productive use of humor, gentlemen. Good job, carry on.

Echo is really really good at getting Jacko to give more depth in some of these answers. Work/Life balance was a great example.

This podcast never lets me down. Jocko and Echo give so much perspective to “ADULTING” . I’m enticed to want to have FREEDOM through DISCIPLINE. Help me become a better person. I owe it to myself. Forever grateful to you guys.

I love how Echo understands that simple things to Jocko are not that simple to average people like me and him bringing it on the table helps Jocko to explain it more to us so that we get it.

The lunch discussion is real. The social pressure to eat with my team is real. It's like, "we're going to lunch" and people will wait for you to get to from your desk. Thing is, at the company I work at, we have a chef and lunch is free, so there's more pressure because if you don't want to eat free food cooked by the in house restaurant, you're not only breaking the team dynamic, but surely there must be something wrong with you. I found another intermittent faster and try to get on his schedule a bit.

I've put on a few pounds since starting about a year ago, but the one saving grace to the situation is that we have a park with a few paths around a lake connected to the building, so we also take a 1-2 mile walk after lunch and I've found I can defer lunch and tell the rest of my team I'll join them for the post-lunch walk. Still, when I first started working where I'm at, it took me a while to figure out how to navigate the situation.

Great words at 1:26:25 about leaving a job. I'm pissed off with my colleagues at the moment and I want to go where I can be appreciated, so this is timely advice. Thanks.
