Ever wonder if adults can still learn ballet? YES! Adults can not only learn ballet, but also PERFORM ballet too. In today's vlog, I'm taking you behind the scenes of my first adult ballet recital EVER. You'll come with me to several weeks of my adult beginner ballet classes, ballet rehearsals and get to see how the performance turned out in the end.

As a kid, I never got the chance to wear the tutus, the stage makeup and dance on stage even though it was always a dream of mine. But recently, I got to be a part of this summer ballet showcase with my friend Isabella for her dance school in New York and I wanted to show you what it's really like to perform in an adult ballet recital.

I hope you enjoy seeing this ballet dance performance. If you want to start ballet as an adult, you CAN! There are still plenty of opportunities for adult beginners to dance ballet! So don't give up and keep following your dreams!

🍓 HI, I'M VERONICA VICCORA

Hi there! I'm Veronica, welcome to my beginner dance journey. When I was 17, I was told by a teacher that I would never be a ballerina. I let that thought control me for YEARS but now, in my late 20s, I moved to New York City and I'm finally starting ballet late. This is a space for me to document the ups and downs of learning how to do ballet in my 20s and show anyone that it's never too late to live your dreams.

As someone who did ballet their entire lives, it’s always so refreshing to see adult beginners. Y’all have that sparkle in your eyes that is exactly why someone should dance, for that amazing feeling. Don’t compare your technique to professionals’ who did it for years, just think about how very little time ago you couldn’t even imagine doing this and you were brave enough to go ahead and do it and improve so much.

I keep thinking I shouldn't even bring up trying ballet because of my size but seeing the diversity in this group brings me hope

my first ballet recital is a blur to me now- it was magical, but I was 8, up past my bedtime, and did the whole thing in a nightmare of shiny pink spandex and fake flowers. the fact you get to have your first as an adult, able to really take it in and appreciate it, and in a STUNNING costume to boot, is really special!!
(I’m not trying to disparage my own experience by any means- just saying that there is something really wonderful about experiencing things for the first time when you’re an adult!)I’m so happy you got to have this!!

and your technique looks great- you hold yourself very well and move with the ease that ballet is all about!!

SPECTACULAR !! So wonderful seeing people do this at any point and stage in their lives :)) Fun tip from a dancer of over 22+ years, keep your costume hung upside down !!! It keeps your tutu and corset area perky and not as weighed down by gravity xo✨❤️

I’m a teen and I really want to try ballet but I was scared I wouldn’t be able to find a beginner class for my age group, or if I did others who do ballet would judge me or get upset that I’m starting so late. Thank you, I really needed this reminder that it’s okay to start things later in life :D

So gorgeous, and I love seeing how much joy it brings you!! A tip if you want your tutu to be more flat (less tilted down), you can store it upside down (crotch up)! I couldn’t tell if you were doing this in the video, so please ignore this if you already knew it! Keep dancing and doing what makes you glow 💕

And why not? I took adult beginners ballet, jazz, tap, and (belly dancing for 6weeks), and we had a couple of shows.! I think it is fantastic these days, that adults can even go en pointe (after a couple of years), which has REALLY inspired ppl, and increased the kind of joy you have as a kid, when it's all New and exciting. Joyful. Well done and clalm every minute of it. Easier said but hey, if it makes you happy then go for it- as you have. I hope there are more to come! X

Omg this is so cool! New goal unlocked! I’m 31 and haven’t danced ballet since I was probably 7? I did it from 4-7 and then switched to tap and hip hop instead. I’d love to try to do it again - I just didn’t know adults could take classes! Also I’m plus size - it’s part of why I quit dancing all together in middle school - so I love seeing that this class had a variety of body types in it. Thank you for sharing this!
