CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Angel Eyes (Lee Van Cleef) has a light conversation with a bedridden Baker (Livio Lorenzon) before shooting him dead.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
In the last and the best installment of his so-called "Dollars" trilogy of Sergio Leone-directed "spaghetti westerns," Clint Eastwood reprised the role of a taciturn, enigmatic loner. Here he searches for a cache of stolen gold against rivals the Bad (Lee Van Cleef), a ruthless bounty hunter, and the Ugly (Eli Wallach), a Mexican bandit. Though dubbed "the Good," Eastwood's character is not much better than his opponents -- he is just smarter and shoots faster. The film's title reveals its ironic attitude toward the canonized heroes of the classical western. "The real West was the world of violence, fear, and brutal instincts," claimed Leone. "In pursuit of profit there is no such thing as good and evil, generosity or deviousness; everything depends on chance, and not the best wins but the luckiest." Immensely entertaining and beautifully shot in Techniscope by Tonino Delli Colli, the movie is a virtually definitive "spaghetti western," rivaled only by Leone's own Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). The main musical theme by Ennio Morricone hit #1 on the British pop charts. Originally released in Italy at 177 minutes, the movie was later cut for its international release.

When I saw this in the theater in the late 60s and Lee Van Cleef shot that poor dude and the sign "the bad" showed up some guy in the audience said "no s**t." We all laughed.

Lee Van Cleef's tombstone reads "Best of the Bad" by his own design. (No joke, look it up).

RIP LVC, one the greatest movie villains ever in Angel Eyes.

it's the sinister chuckle at the end that establishes him as a total sociopath.

In the previous movie For a Few Dollars More, he played a role of an honorable gentleman who had principles. In this movie he is evil personified. This scene for instance where he shoots his employee not once but 4 times and laughs ! The baddest of the western movie charecters. RIP Van Cleef.

I was only 14 the first time I watched The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, had a nightmare the same night where I dreamt that Angel Eyes did this to me. Woke up to my face and body all soaked with sweats. Man, Angel Eyes is such a memorable villain.

You know what I like about this movie? No one is completely good or bad. The "good" is just better (sometimes and in some things) than the 2 others but he's still greedy and ready to break any deal just to benefit himself, the "ugly" is a flawed type but the most sympathetic of the group because of the traumas of his past as we learn from the conversation with his brother and his more humorous attitude coming mostly from his stupidity (especially compared to the 2 others), so we can identify more with him because he's a comic relief and we all are "ugly" in some way and the "bad" is indeed the worse of the 3 because he's so self centered but is also a traumatized isolated person, so it makes sense he can't create any real close ralationships and only trusts himself, but he mostly kills other killers or greedy rich men and showed sympathy for the injured soldiers in the ruined fortress!

Angel Eyes, the inspiration for Revolver Ocelot from Metal Gear Solid and Cad Bane from Star Wars The Clone Wars!
