This video on FWD track tuning really was a long time coming, I wanted to make I got everything right and had a lot of time to play with front wheel drive cars, but now, here we are! I have really fallen in love with the FWD layout lately and I hope this video will cause you to check them out too! Ofcourse, as always if you have any advice yourself, please let me know in the comments!

Step 1: Tape your right hand to the steering wheel.

Yes! Been waiting for this one... FF for life.

I love that you touched on using brake and throttle to control your turn instead of steering input. I find that to be one of the biggest hurdles that keep people in the "front-wheel-drive is wrong-wheel-drive" camp, because it is unintuitive. In a RWD car, inputs are very simple. Gas is go, brake is slow, and steering turns you in and out. And you can pretty much adjust steering, throttle, and brake input at any time mid-corner, and while it may not be the fastest, you are not particularly punished for it.

But in a FWD car, it is different. Steering is just a suggestion. You actually execute the corner with the pedals. And you have to be neat and commit to a good line once you take it. Mid-corner adjustment can very quickly punish you if you setup the corner wrong. None of it really makes sense at first to someone who only knows RWD or even AWD. But I always say it. Once you open that third eye and realize just how different a beast FWD can be, it can be just as good, if not better, than RWD when placed on equal footing.

Pretty much all of this holds up and applies to irl FWD as well, good stuff!

My biggest issue with fwd is the launch. Just wheelspin for days while everyone else yeets off the line

I just use rally suspension on all of my FWD cars, it counteracts the understeer and works well in Forza Stage

Great video Hoki! Good solid info here. 🏎💨

Just a couple competitive tuning tips to add:
- minimum tire pressure
- max front aero, min rear aero in most cases
- often a 1/65 anti roll bar setup will be best in most AWD cases
(1 in front, 65 in rear)

Learned from top drivers and long hours of tuning, building and racing 👍

i've watched a lot of tuning guides, in fact ur tuning guides in FH3 are what got me started in tuning, but one the things ive never seen anyone talk about is pi saving which is a hole video in itself ;), and the first thing you talk about is tires which are very important pi savers in FWD and AWD just wanted to clarify that when ur upgrading u should always pay a lot of attention to pi and tires are one of few upgrades that do nothing but improve ur build wile lowering pi (giving you more room for other upgrades) which means u should ALWAYS MAX OUT tire with if the pi gets reduced, in this case it does and it helps a lot with lift off oversteer and cornering speed and breaking and just everything. Also another little thing in FH tire pressure should always be at min setting cus in this game u get all the benefits of low tire pressure without any of the negatives

Snap oversteer is when the pendulum effect is too short and snaps too quickly. What you were pointing out in the differential decel is lift off oversteer. Old mr2 is a good example for snap oversteer

I really like the fwd style of the game, really hope they add some of GM's fwd cars such as a Z24 Cavelier, Grand Prix GTP, GXP, Cadillac El Dorado from 98 with the Northstar V8 was also a weird cool niche fwd car.

All you have to do is change front anti roll bar to around 5. Usually requires a spoiler to stop overseer. But you can grip for days with a fwd drive car like this

This video helped me out a lot. I have an all motor integra type r and the handling is way better now. I still need to practice a bit to better understand how it all works but thank you for the vid.

I was about to try my FF Integra in ranked adventure. I needed this.

I just don't get it why the forza devs won't allow downforce tuning on all bumpers/spoilers/no spoilers/no bumpers. There are so many options made obsolete because you don't have enough downforce from the other options.
The same thing is in Forza 7. The amount of fun you can have is dictated by that adjustible aero marker on the upgrade. Want increased track width through a body kit? Haha, no downforce for you, you better apply that ugly generic splitter and spoiler :/

(Quick Tip)

FWD goes around a corner at Low Throttle

If you're your full Rev in a FWD the front wheels arent getting traction *causing understeer*

If you completely let off the throttle it will also understeer due to the wheels not being powered it won't pull the car around the turn

My best advice is

(Brake Early)

(Only pull the trigger 50% when braking so it doesn't lock the wheels)

(Hold the Throttle at 25% - 35% down so that way you arent overpowering the wheels, But are still giving power to pull you through the turn)

Another technique is to hold the throttle at 50% pull and hold the brakes at 15% pull so it maintains throttle control a bit more fine in the corners
