I have been using Davinci resolve for about a week now in my client work and I have to say I am slower, but it does make me think more about what I want to do since the program is built to make you think that way with all its tabs from the get-go. One can argue premiere pro can do the same but personally I just like how Resolve is set to make you think in a more proper, process-heavy workflow.

This is my first serious video editing program. Took me only minutes to get going. Previously I was using Filmora, which was decent as a beginner video editing software, but I was outgoing it within a few videos. Knowing Davinci is free, its a no brainer. Really. But it was better & more user-friendly than I thought.

My needs are simple, and as I look down the road to the "R" word (retirement), I realize that cutting back on expenses is a necessity. I've been working on HitFilm Express, and despite the warnings that I needed a machine with at least 32GB to use Resolve, I decided to download it and use it anyway. Wow. My needs are simple - a couple of video tracks, multicam support, and more than one audio track (bye bye iMovie), low cost, and relatively intuitive to use. DaVinci. so far, checks every box. Although I've only been using it for a few days, I'm blown away by its power. When I purchase my next iMac, I may go ahead and buy the Studio version as I go forward in my business. Resolve is a gem.

I'm downloading Davinchi Resolve 15 as we speak now. I'm a little bummed to give up all the time I spent researching and learning Premiere Pro. But watching this video reminds me of all the bugs and errors, and furthermore to not have to pay per month is just top notch! Nice to support Linux as well. The nodes seem a bit intimidating, but I'm pumped :)
