As a black belt in taekwondo, we were taught to NEVER go full power on a lower ranking belt. I have no clue as to why a black belt would do that. Part of being a black belt is being able to control your power, that is basically the opposite of controlling your power. Also, it took me 7 and a half years to get to black belt, 1-2 years is completely unrealistic unless you go to a belt factory.

Edit: I used to go to Impact Martial Arts, Clinton, NJ. I left about 6 months ago and moved to a different state.

Added info: The girl sued the coach because the coach intended to destroy girl emotionally and physically because as what her mother said to interview the coach had a crush on the girl which happened to be his(coach) student. The girl frequently rejected the coach's indecent proposals before that happened and planned and arranged an unfair sparring match that will surely injure his student. Thus, ended up suing the coach and now facing multiple charges.

By the way that happened here in the philippines. 🇵🇭

For those who don’t know: she is still alive but is currently in a hospital and her injuries are: broken nose, and bruises and the police is still investigating about what happened. And as a new yellow belter in taekwondo that has no experience about sparring I’m pretty scared

This is recent news from the Philippines. What happened was allegedly the yellow-belt girl's instructor made romantic advances towards her but got rejected. As revenge, he forced her to a sparring session with a MALE black-belter. What made it more disturbing was the black-belter guy agreed to do it even though he knew what he was doing was wrong.

This is what happened:
This is a Filipino news I am an orange belt in karate in Philippines, the story about her is about the instructor having a crush on her colleague which is Jamie. when he knew about her having a boyfriend he set up a match with Jamie and told the instructor to dominate the sparring match, his weight is 70 kg

The story is beyond that. It's a coach vs a student issue. The coach has love interest with the Yellow belt and rejected the coach it ended retaliate to make the yellow belt suffer.

I'm gonna give you a background on this one since it was on mainstream media as well. This happen in the Philippines where in the coach of the taekwondo team in their university has a crush on the girl, but the coach learned that the girl already have a boyfriend and it seems he doesn't like it. After knowing that, the coach pair the girl on a sparring with a black belter guy and it didn't go well. The girl suffer a head injury and having mental issues, her nose broke and having a black eye as well. The university president took action on this and the coach of the taekwondo team was already out of the institution and facing criminal charges.

As a black belt myself it’s completely normal to spar with low belts and even little kids. your not supposed to go batshit crazy on them, sparring is for learning you’re supposed to tone it down to their level while still challenging them to help them learn. this guy is just an asshole

That chart doest mean black belt in 2 years. It means it takes 2-3 months for a yellow and then 3 more months for orange and then 3 more months for green. It takes a year just for a green belt. It takes about 10 years for a black.

My family used to run a Martial Arts studio before it had to get shut down because of Covid. Not all schools have their belt colors in the same order as well as may have different colors or patterns, some schools don't have the two-tone belts and some schools have camo belts, and also black belts have different degrees and it takes way longer than two years to get to black (I studied under may father for maybe five years and I believe I only got to red) That said, the black belt should know how to hold back their strength to make it even, especially if they were their instructor.

It happened in my country. The coach who asked the Black Belter to beat the Yellow Belt girl, initially was interested at the girl. Asking her on a date, coffee, hang out, etc. But the girl is not interested.

But the coach got jealous when the girl received boquets of flowers from her boyfriend. The coach was rejected that is why he set up a "match" for the Black Belter to beat the Yellow-Belt girl. The black-belt had to follow his coach for some reasons.
