Sometimes they get creative with the "serving size", too.

"It's a little ripped off"

No pun intended, eh?

Deceptive labels are the WORST. One that especially grinds my gears is processed meats labeled as “uncured” or “no nitrates or nitrites added” with that little footnote about celery. Talk about disingenuous!

What the heck kind of name is "vector" for a cereal anyway? Just sounds like I'm gonna eat a bowl of pixels.

Also, the iron in cereals is often in a form that is indigestible. It's basically just metal dust that goes straight to the toilet.

Other deceptive labels include:
“It’s not gambling, it’s surprise mechanics!”

I realised a while back, that no matter which cereal you buy, they're decidedly NOT suitable as a meal for breakfast, but as a sugary snack. Even the "healthy" cereals are full of sugar. So that's how I treat them; an occasional snack for dessert, after dinner.

Never trust the label. Usually, I just go straight to read the nutrition facts. I am not shocked if for example they mention 13g of protein for the whole package of the cereal as well

Protip: Get the cheapest and lowest calorie cereal you can and add your own toppings like nuts, oats and fruit. A whole bowl is less calories than one serving size of the sugar cereals. Which is another cereal scam. Most people eat 2+ servings of cereal in one go because they didn't see that it was only a cup. Do you know how small a cup of dry cereal is!?!?

Known about this since they first started doing it.Always, always, always look for an asterisk and if it's too good to be true, it is

personally when my mom buys me this cereal its literally just bc its one of my favorites, not because of "potential health benefits" so i didnt exactly fall for it, i just like the cereal. and im pretty certain thats the same for a majority of your "most people"

This seems like a relatively easy fix, too;
We just need a law that says you're only allowed to advertise the advertised usable product inside of the package on the package.

Hopefully "advertised usable product" precludes adding a protein puck inside the package to boost the number of grams per serving.

And that’s when you realise that most breakfast cereals are just overcompensating.

"As part of this balanced breakfast" basically eat a healthy breakfast and you'll get the nutrition you're definitely not getting from your donut level nutrient containing cereal lol

Exactly why nutrition should be taught in schools and at home. It's very easy to quickly skim through ingredients and a nutrition label to get an idea of what you're buying.

Doing that is actually illegal in a few countries

One way to fight back when a company does this is to NEVER buy any of their products.

I think such things should be regulated. Misleads the buyer.

They also use metallic iron a lot, when your body needs ionic iron instead.
