Your tutorials are truely exceptional, they provide such a nice combination of theory along with the practical problem. Thank you very much. With each lecture I feel I understand well about the subject and feel not boring at all about all these otherwise hard-to-crack stuff. Thank you.

Comming from the Architecture side, I find your overview excellent. You blanket a very broad and important subject of the Networking realm. @ this point is where the purpose of the networking world comes to show the tools of the trade. Great work Ryan!

Nice video, so it's VLAN purposes and the relation between Broadcast domain, subnet and VLAN .

So what are the security limits of creating a vlan through a switch (if I am getting my terminology correct, ) or choosing to run the lan through a router? I am hearing that a router creates a higher degree of security. So, using the HR server as an example, one wouldn't want to break up a switch into vlans because it would not be as secure as running one's network through a router? I guess I am asking to what degree is running one's vlan through a router more secure than just dividing up a switch?
