Forty-Seventh Video in a Series covering all elements of The Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) 100-105 ICND1v3 which is the first part of the CCNA certification.

Blueprint Section: Infrastructure Maintenance

In the Infrastructure Maintenance section of the CCENT / ICND1 it requires a lot of configuration, primarily around setting up a Cisco device and key elements like Telnet. But before we jump in, we need to have a look at a Cisco – Do we know how to even access a Cisco which doesn’t have configuration?

In this video we first have a look at a small lab, starting with a router we identify key elements such as the Console port, AUX port and expansion bays. We then had a look at a physical switch, ensured we knew how to identify a switch and it differs from a router.

In our next video – We’ll go through setting up Cisco devices in more detail now we’ve seen what they actually look like!

Hey all - Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe and like :) - I appeciate this video may seem better suited at the start of the series, but it has important elements we've yet to go over and I want to ensure we're all on the same page before connecting the console cable and starting the Infrastructure Maintenance section of the CCENT series. I hope you find this useful. All the best and keep studying!

useful yet basic tip: Switch ports are numbered top to bottom and left to right. So top left is 01, bottom left is 02... Often these ports are divided in groups of 12s.

I must say that your videos are awesome, in my opinion better than the cbt nuggets, (being from the UK myself some their analogys are lost on me lol ). I like that your information is no nonsense, straight forward and to the point. Working for a SP in 2nd line support you have helped me to understand my current role better dealing with access lists ect. Keep up the good work and I cant wait for the next videos.

Hey Ryan, do any of the videos in the series go through NTP? I've gone through all of them and can't seem to find one where it's covered. The whole series is great btw!

Ryan thank you for the amazing series so far! Its been very helpful thus far! Great job! I have a question for you!
I noticed in one of the early videos you had a really nice document of all your notes. What program was that??
I've come to realize that taking notes with a notebook and pen is not very convenient.
Please let me know and thank you again for the great videos sir!
