Can a laptop survive this? - Thinkpad torture test

It is said that the T Series Thinkpad will last anything. We tested it, and the T440s survived water damage, freezing and driving over it. But even Thinkpads can't survive everything... Don't try these tests at home!

Check the Hard Disk after the burn test. If you can retrieve all the data and the Disk still works fine after this, then the test should be considered a partial win.

I used to spend hours looking at laptop reviews whenever I was a teen to get the best deal possible on price to performance. I often asked "What's the quality difference between this Asus and Dell laptop? What's the quality difference between laptops within the same brand? How will I be able to get replacement parts if this fails?" After my first Thinkpad, I no longer deliberate on that. Instead the question is "What's a Thinkpad released from 2005 to 2018?" because it's guaranteed to perform incredibly well, be able to recover from almost any component failure after a replacement is ordered and also be cheaper than a Dollar General smartphone. Proud father of a Thinkpad Yoga L380 and T430 btw. They're both i7 models they make me so proud!

I could have told you that plastic and a battery will burn without having to burn it... Will there be a drop-test next time?

I had a t440s, it was less than good. Of all the many thinkpads I've had it's the only one that has ever stopped working in my use. It just died of unknown reasons after around three to four years of use. To be fair I did get it second hand, but I'm currently using an ibm t43 that had been used since it was purchased and still worked great. Not to say the older thinkpads were without fault, I actually have two other t43 thinkpads that have dead screens but if you plug them into a monitor they run perfectly while that t440s was just dead. Anyway if I were to stop being stubborn and use a post 2005 laptop I'd definitely stick to a ibm style construction ThinkPad like the t430 or t420

Did you tried to turn it on on AC power with aux screen? Battery was probably cooked but after a minute but and maybe even flex cable here and there but I wouldn't be shocked if the main parts survived enough to pull data out

It is incredible that the screen survives even under high pressure. While my thinkpad t440p is just over 4 years old, I have taken good care of it and despite that some of my keys stopped working for no reason :(.

Es increíble que la pantalla haya sobrevivido a mucha presión, mientras que mi laptop thinkpad t440p de 4 años la he cuidado bien y apesar de eso, me dejaron de funcionar algunas teclas sin razón alguna :(.

i came to watch because I place 2textbooks and a binder on my laptop after long hours of hw and I woke to realize what I have done and I’m hoping nothing bad happens to my laptop, so far my screen is looking good and I did full diagnostics and everything seems to be fine, should I still be worry?
