I became the full time caregiver to a cat that is part Maine Coon when my lifelong companion passed. She was a shelter rescue so we know nothing of her heritage but her appearance leaves no room for doubt. That and the fact that she weighs 20# and 3 vets have all said she very low body fat. She plays quite rough but anytime she makes me bleed she immediately stops the game and licks the puncture apologizing, She is really a very sweet girl but it is clear she was abused before we found her. I am more than happy to take care of everything she needs for as many years as she yet has on this mortal plain.

We got a male cross that had been returned to the SPCA twice and was quite timid when we got him. After a few years he has blossomed and has become a very happy cat. He has the run of an old house that has 3 stories and front and back yards. He LOVES to hunt and oddly he goes outside and stays in the yard. He is such a delightful animal and communicates his wants VERY well. Even tells us whether he wants cat food or Temptations. Yeah he is very bright. He is much loved and knows it. He will jump up on a table when he wants to be groomed and often comes after us for attention. Such a handsome boy too. We are so fortunate. And our mouse problem has

I can't believe you guys added "long lifespan" in a video titled "5 reasons most people can't handle a maine coon" as if it's a problem. This goes for most animals, don't get a pet if you're not ready to sign up for a life long commitment and responsibility, period.

I had a grand lady. 15.5 pounds and she wasn’t fat. Vet said she was the only cat he had seen gain weight between spay and stitches out (7.25 to 7.5 pounds). She wasn’t fat, but bright and playful her whole life. I taught her snuggle with me to nap. We also had a clingy long lean 13 pound half Abyssinian neutered male so plenty of play and exercise between them. She learned to love a good brushing, she hated having her anal glands done or they’d impact. We had a male betta in a 2 1/2 gallon hex tank, added a bit of locking the tank in place, and brought the cords and tubing down to the top of the tank and taped the hood on. She ran round and round the tank fascinated by that beautiful betta that thumbed a fin at her. I loved her dearly, lost her to renal failure at 13 … RIP my princess Tabber (Tabitha)

Clickbait. "Most people can not handle a Maine Coon" is not the same as "Some people can find it challenging and the breed is not suitable for everyone" Other than that, you have some good points.

Without watching or reading comments it’s like this, do your research, & it’s like having a baby, if you’re not sure then damn it! Forget getting a pet & for that matter a baby.
