More than 1,000 prisoners set to be released early in England and Wales

Around 1,700 prisoners are to be released early from jails in England and Wales, in a bid to cut overcrowding.

The chief inspector of prisons is warning that it's "inevitable" some of those released will go on to commit more crimes - but the government says they do not have the space to keep them locked up.

Who cares if they are in overcrowded uncomfortable prisons? If anything thats a good thing as it makes prison less appealing to come back to. Why are we trying to give criminals a better experience of prison? What a joke

I was locked up about 24 years ago and was in for only 2 years. In that short time I saw 3 suicides that only had a few months to go. I could never find anything in papers about them. Then there’s the many suicides after release.
