HOME OFFICE MAKEOVER ✨ Mid Century Aesthetic on a BUDGET! (Start to Finish)

Transforming this dull multipurpose square room into a vintage inspired home office has given me a brand new living space to have some work/life balance! I wanted to design a room that made me feel creatively inspired, and motivated to work — but also doubled as the occasional cozy guest room, where guests feel welcome and relaxed. So today I'm sharing how affordable secondhand decor, a bunch of discarded furniture, renter friendly DIY hacks, and some discounted IKEA items can completely transform a boring white square room into colorful, elevated, COZY mid century inspired home office with tons of purpose!

Designer mid century furniture and vintage pieces from similar time periods are very expensive, especially when they're in good condition! And as much as I'd like to splurge for those really unique quality pieces, they're totally out of my budget! So I really wanted to achieve that same look with some thrifted pieces and simple DIYs, and I'm so happy with the outcome! But what do you think?! Are you a mid century purist, or do you think duping the style in this way is acceptable too?

I really like how you pointed out that your room was curated over time. It's so frustrating to see a room come together in one video and not knowing how I'm ever going to get the feel I want with nothing to put in it. But knowing it took you time makes it feel more attainable.

The change up of the knobs were just right! Hemming the curtains made a huge improvement.

The bigger new knobs on the cabinet look a lot more original for that time period. Would use them definitely.

Love it! Be careful with playing records near the window during the day. They can get warped easily. I love the new knobs! I vote yes for new knobs on the shelving unit!

You are so creative! The knobs on the bed do tie the bed into the room and less “IKEA”-ish. I also like how the cabinet knobs lessen the small black 2000s pull vibes. The whole room looks very cohesive and fun. Wish I had an ounce of your design!

I collect MCM ceramic ashtrays! So I thought it was cool you incorporated an ashtray! I don’t smoke, I just think MCM ceramic ashtrays are beautiful pieces of art! I currently have about 15 of them on display. Love all the beautiful colors ❤😊

This is my second time watching this video LK & I have to say, I enjoyed it so much both times!! lol! This time I noticed how much I really like the combo of knobs on the shelving/hutch FB market find. You mentioned that, at the time, you weren't sure which way you wanted to go (the round wood knobs vs the original black knobs) & I think having both really serves the piece & looks just right!! I also always appreciate an art collage that lives on the corner of two walls like you have here. Hanging the art this way adds yet another cool layer of interest! I'll have to revisit your LR refresh to see how the wall the record player used to be on is doing as I must admit - I loved how you had those 2 pieces (the mcm end table & record player) together when you first put the LR together. I just thought it flowed so well & created a unique piece of furniture! However, I also think it looks great in here, it suits the spot under the window. I really enjoy your videos! You have such a calming way about you that makes me feel calm too! I hope this room has been working well for it's multi purposes!!
