How to Fix Sticky, Uncured Epoxy

Have you finished a project only to be surprised by sticky epoxy? Sticky epoxy usually means that you have uncured or unmixed resin that is now part of your project. All is not lost! You can sand off, wipe off, grind off or scrape off your uncured parts and repour again. Your mistakes are easily hidden even with clear epoxy, and sometimes a little tint or pigment in your next layer can really hide mistakes. Pouring another layer of epoxy on top of your uncured areas is an easy way to hide these mistakes and make your project look great.

Acetone did it for me but my application was very thin so it won't work for everyone

My application is filling cracks and voids in wood. The cracks are 1/16" to 1/4". Voids are holes 1/2" deep. I might be able to scrape the top bit off but the deeper parts will still be uncured. What do you recommend?

Ok, but what made it tacky in the first place? I seem to get tacky epoxy that doesn’t cure well more often than not. I’m curious about the factors that can be used to avoid that in the first place?

So your method is to remove it. Not fix it.
