Amanda Abbington: Other Strictly contestants 'scared' to speak out | ITV News

Amanda Abbington should just be concentrating on the day job.

She has a new play about to be staged at London's Park Theatre, rehearsals have started and she is doing what is expected of her to promote the play.

But interviews invariably centre around the storm that has enveloped her since she left Strictly Come Dancing, amid claims of abuse and cruelty from her dancing partner Giovanni Pernice - claims he has strenuously denied.

If it's an ongoing complaint and she's not able to discuss details then why is she going on National television? The investigation hasn't even finished. This speaks volumes

What an actress she is. I guess she isn't being paid for any of these interviews. Channel 4, ITV news, Lorraine. There were rumours that she would cause trouble if she participated before the show started.

I watched her interview. I’ll be honest i don’t follow either of them on social media, but I did pay attention to hers after she left strictly. Where are these ‘death threats’ she was talking about? I saw quite a few comments referencing her partner being jealous. I didn’t see any death threats though, unless they were deleted?

Not like someone is not abuse. It's simply not connecting with a person you have patterned in a show. Taking it to personal is your feelings. That is not abuse. Awful shame she is ruining someone's life about a feeling she had

Why interview Amanda before the investigation results have been released. Obviously timed to coincide with the Professionals returning to dance rehearsals this week. If you can't talk about it now then don't hold all these interviews until she can. They show that Amanda has been clearly affected by her experience but don't show her in a very good light. She needs help and counselling.

I don't believe a word Amanda says, but I do believe Zara McDermott for obvious reasons. Amanda is attention seeking and wanting a big pay out, her behaviour has been appalling.

For someone who cant speak about it, she seems to ssy quite a lot in the 45 minute i terview on Channel 4 news. If wrongdoing is shown to have occurred, hen it should be dealt with at the end of the investigation. As it is shes "not speaking about it on most news channels and other programmes.

No amount of money would keep me going back for more if i felt i was being abused/mistreated i’d be out of that door and not return!
If you’re happy to tell the nation then surely you told your husband/partner at the time and they wouldn’t let you return either?

Scared to speak out !!! These powerful women. These adults !! They can’t speak up for themselves and say “No I need a break” or “ Can you show me a different again lr another way. She didn’t like him telling her “again” omg That’s what all dance teachers say repeatedly.. “again” “one more time” “No” “better” “yes try again” that his yiu learn but it just didn’t suit her in any way shape or form I could see that before she left the show
My God how bloody ridiculous. I’ve been standing up for myself since I was a child and I’m still doing it at 66 yrs if she. I csr not what other people think and I would not put up with what she’s allegedly put up with. As for liaising with the others yrs later how ridiculous.
On a Thursday when she’s says it was “unworkable “ She could have just given up and said I can’t hack it give her reasons and git outta the show. She admits to being affected by previous abusive relationships . Triggers she says and of course that can happen but I fear she was too fragile for the tough training involved in learning to dance and I also get the impression that she feels that as a “celebrity “ an actress or whatever she’s one cut above a professional dancer and couldn’t hack him telling her what to do … to learn to dance . I felt watching her reaction to critique from judges that she was totally shocked that t she didn’t quite get it right. She looked puzzled at their remarks.

While i think what is going on with this is wrong if i felt so strongly about my treatment i would have walked off the show she is a strong grown woman if it was so bad walk away but then you wouldn’t get paid would you i have been in that position in a job and after being touched inappropriately and i slapped the mans face i left the job that night
