I still find it unreal how a novel can jump between about seven different genres, from body horror to sci-fi war drama to cyberpunk, and have it not only flow seamlessly, but have each story completely absorb you. Weintraub's Tale has me on the verge of tears every single time I read it. Easily one of the best books I've ever read.

A friend of mine suggested this book to me, and after watching your review, I’m sold. Ordered the book on Amazon 🤘

Yes! It's a mothership novel. A cornucopia of Sci-Fi genres rolled into a single saga!
BTW: Hyperion can be found on this site as an audiobook.
Thanks, Brittany!🚀

Finished Hyperion today. An awesome novel. Each of the pilgrims' stories is good enough they could stand on their own.

Read this book a few years ago now and nearly all of the Pilgrim's stories are still stuck vividly in my mind. It's one thing that each backstory is presented in a different genre, but to then tell them all in pretty much different writing styles as well, giving each character their own unique voice, is a stroke of genius.

Love so many things about all 4 of these books . Encompasses everything I would ever want in a series also. Can’t recommend enough either!

Read this in high school, then again just a few years ago. Found the Shrike absolutely terrifying back then but wow... what an amazing story and series overall. Hit me in all kinds of feels reading it later, as a father. Simmons is truly a master & I agree, this one should be on any sci-fi lovers TBR list.

This one has been low key on my radar for years, and hearing you talk about it has gotten me to finally push it up to the top of my TBR. Thanks!

Scholar's tale blew me away back in the early 90s - I remembered there were really personal moments in that part, and I thought, it was just theoretical/fictional, but instructive. Fast forward 12 years and I'm sitting in a hospital, about to be told my 2 year old daughter is dead in an accident. (sorry for the downer ) and one of my thoughts is "Holy shit, I'm stuck in a shitty situation like Sol Weintraub, and this is real" The courage of the character to push on when all hope was lost - that helped. Its sci fi but i dont think anybody has captured the tragedy of the death of a child better. Having read Hyperion actually made me a better more resilient person

Thanks for the video! I have been reading sci fi for about 40 years, and Hyperion is the finest example of the the genre I have ever read! It fires on all cylinders. I am about to wrap up the third book in the Cantos.
And Martin Silenus is the man! Love his character. I relate to him somehow.
APPRECIATE YOU and the video 🙂

I'm not a sci-fi fan but Hyperion (the whole cantos) is my favourite reading material ever. I first read it back in the early 90's when I was in my early 20's. I've lost count of how many times I've read it but still every time I go back to it I find things that I haven't caught before. This is also the first time I've searched for it on YouTube. I've been trying to get anyone and everyone to read it for years, never met anyone else who had. So I am SO GLAD to see that actually Simmons has a huge following. I mean, what an imagination, what an intellect.

It is the most epic sci fi novel series ever written. My love for it is on the same level as my love for Tolkien's books. If you haven't you should try the audiobooks on audible, the voice actor really brings it to life and does it such justice. Either way - there are some weird sequences here and there (if you know you know), but the Hyperion cantos is just so incredible, and while you may often hear people say "you have to read this" or "you have to watch this" - take notice of this one. The sheer depth, colour, relatability, intrigue, originality, imagination, action, tension, and pleasure of just sitting back and absorbing this book series is beyond compare. If you don't like reading and prefer listening, definitely, definitely get it on audible. You won't regret it.

Great video and reasons for reading this wonderful book. I've read the entire Cantos and I've read Hyperion at least 3, maybe 4 times since 2013. Hyperion is by far my favorite Sci-Fi book and I'm in the process of now listening to the outstanding multicast audio version on Audible. On a scale of 1 to 10, Hyperion is a 30.

I have been wanting to read this book, but also wanted a spoiler-free treatment of the work that would tell me if this tale was worth the time. I took a chance on your video and you did not disappoint! I plan to order a copy today. Thank you!
