So glad we think alike about flowering and bolting for the pollinators. As part of edible landscaping this year, I am adding parsley, dill, thai basil, and thyme to the ornamental pollinator garden - locating the baby nursery for butterflies near the cafeteria! 😉

I did this exact thing this year because I saw tons of bees on my blooming brassicas!!! Not pulling anything out any more until it stops blooming! :)

I plant borage just fot the bees and also it to my compost. The bees are in love with it. I plant extra bunching onions so they go to flower. This happened by mistake one year and I've never looked back. The bees are obsessed with it. Love your Tuesday tips.

My lavender and jasmine are in full bloom right now. I am seeing lots of bees. No pests either, however, I sprayed with neem oil, earlier in the season when my kale was full of aphids. I also sprayed the other day with the aspirin. My plants all look healthy. Fingers crossed.

That is so helpful and interesting! It helps me think differently about my garden. Duh, why wouldn’t we leave some things to flower? Who doesn’t want flowers? Thanks for the tip!

This is great, I had some fall collards that I hadn't pulled up that started to bolt early this spring with the crazy temp swings, I was about to start pulling them out when I started seeing the bees all over them and I left them until I had chamomile and thyme blooming to keep the bees around. Laziness pays off every once in a while.

If anyone reading this has problems with squash bugs, plant petunias near the base of your squash/zucchini/cucumbers and they will avoid the plants.

My arugula and cilantro bolted and their flowers brought in a lot of beneficial insects. I am saving the arugula seed for next year.

pulled my carrots today after noticing a few starting to bolt. Left one though, which had a lot of foliage and a small root, to let it bloom, as well as some lettuce that are bolting. Also have a 'wild carrot' in one of my small flower beds next to the tomato bed, so leaving that to bloom too, even thought it's considered a weed. Already starting to see white flies and signs of flea beetles, so crossing fingers to attract in some predators!

🤣🤣🤣 Hairy vetch! Every time.
I had not thought about the benefits of allowing the cool weather crops to go to flower. SO, yep, thank you a major ton for that tip!

I purchased some ladybugs from Lowes to help control the aphids on my squash plants. Next morning you can see them eating them and mating. Now i dont see heavy colonies in one area anymore. Also, I dont know if its just me but the leaves that come out when the cilantro bolts taste better to me. I also enjoy its texture more. Going to take the advice and leave some to flower.

As usual, wonderful vídeo. Even when this doesn’t necessarily apply to me down here in the Caribbean (no frost period). But the rainy season is about to start... Recommendations welcome for raised beds with tomatoes (determinate and indeterminate), bell peppers, cucumbers (Calypso), sweet potato, cassava (yucca), cabbage, lettuce (thin leaf), cauliflower, basil, celery, chives, cabbage, parsley!
