Baking Soda Has Many Uses.....how about as a pesticide? Or maybe a fungicide? Today, let's look at how to use Baking Soda, or Sodium Bicarbonate, in the garden for an effective treatment against aphids, whiteflies, thrips, caterpillars, spider mites as well as prevention of fungal outbreaks such as powdery mildew.

There are a few caveats (of course), but as always, we'll cover it all and let you make the most informed choice for your garden! And don't forget to spray a test leaf first to ensure no phytotoxicity!

2024 is the Year of the Garden! We deserve it after the last little while, and growing our own food and self sufficiency is just the reward we need to get back on track!

My father was an organic farmer back in the 60's on a 7 acre farm in the burbs in NJ . Which people came from all around to get veggies and we even had Restaruants buy from us . Bug control was our chickens . Fertilizer was always aged manure and water came from rain barrels that we put bags in to make manure tea to spray in the gardens .We did the picking and planting and in the winter mom and I would make seed pots from newspapers Our equipment was wheelbarrows and rototillers and our hands and backs

Try sprinkling some cinnamon on the surface of the soil. I have and found that it works amazingly well. My tomatoes are in full midst of production. My strawberries are in full bloom. I have used cinnamon for the first time. Experiment with one plant and see the results...get ready to become a "believer". No pests of any kind. No fungus gnats or whiteflies. My what a relief it is!

It never fails to amaze me when I find yet another use for Bi-carb. Thanks again.

Ants are trying to tell you that the soil around you where they nest is too dry, or aphids attack too much nitrogen fed plants, then the ants come in to use them as farmers, or combo of both. Great video btw, thanks.

Green mold was growing on the dirt of an outdoor potted plant so I put a few pinches of baking soda directly on it and that worked

I LIKE you. You EXPLAIN and that helps me to UNDERSTAND rather than just cut and paste. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

At first I was thinking you use a lot more than I do. What I do is mix right in the spray bottle. Maybe 1/3 liter. 1 drop dawn dish soap, 1 drop 33% peroxide, 1 splash vinegar, and a dash of baking soda.
So far so good. I'm expecting ripe tomatoes in a week or so.

In India we use Neem Oil instead of oil, which works very fantastic.
