With almost 50 thousand known species of spiders around the world, and potentially far more that are yet to be discovered, it's amazing to think that each one has its own unique behaviors, methods, and types of prey that they hunt… which means that they all have different approaches to the way that they weave their webs. It's generally accepted that there are 6 main types of web that are used, from the commonly seen orb structures, to the less obvious triangle and mesh designs. Even then, there's great variety in how they are constructed… so, with that in mind, it's time to enter a world of eight-legged creatures, as we take a look at the top 15 cool looking spider webs.

I appreciate the lack of fear mongering and “how terrifying” commentary there is on this video. This was genuinely very interesting and I appreciate the light they were narrated in

I used to think Spiderman's webshooters were over the top silly and pure fiction but seeing this made me think otherwise.

A lot of that footage for grass spiders was actually of Hololena spiders.
Often confused with each other, the easiest way to tell them apart is their spinnerets. Grass spiders have a rather obvious elongated pair over a short pair, while they are equal length on Hololena.

Grass spiders are hilarious
You boop them and their first response is to jump and run off like a spooked cat XD

The St. Andrews Cross Spider (10:oo mark) does the same thing as North Americas Garden Spider, the "X" formation is to prevent birds from flying through it. Plus the bright underbelly as a warning. I've witnessed it first hand on trails on my property. It works very well for the spider during certain insect hatchings and migrations, and then noticing different bird paths through the woods.

I'm jealous of that Darwin Bark Spider. Imagine if we could shoot webs like Spidey! Lol

Very well done. It's about time spiders get their limelight .I knew a large percentage of this information when I was about 12 years old in the early 1980's, yet back then there wasn't the audience we have now with millions understanding to expect anything online. When I was trying to tell people about this stuff, most thought it was weird or too frightening.
So I am jealous others get to say what I was trying to say decades back, but it's good for the spiders. Bravo.

There was a golden silk orbweaver who lived in a palm bush in my childhood back yard. Every year she would come back and build these huge nests on the bush, probably five feet across. Really beautiful to see!

One of my favorite parts of being a tarantula keeper and youtuber is watching the heavy webbers web up thier enclosures.

I love spiders, thanks for once not being sensationalist about spider venom and concentrating on some of their amazing web creations. I have several jumping spider pets, none of them spin webs to hunt prey, only to build their nests for sleeping and moulting, which is when they shed their exoskeleton to grow. If we could all see past the OTT claims and see what amazing creatures they really are, especially how they are one of natures most prolific insect controllers, humans would see them in a much better light 😍

The fact spiders don't have wings is proof enough that God doesn't entirely hate us.

EDIT: I said that before 15:00, I take back everything I said, we are living in a nightmare.

the diving bell spider is my personal favorite, fascinating how they create little air pockets for themselves to be able to breath underwater.

If there Is one thing that I hate about spider webs is accidentally running into one. The thought of a possible big ass spider being on you scares the hell out of me.

this was really cool, educational, and it also made me realize it's much less easy to clumsily run into a black widow than I had been taught
