Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

Directed by Oscar® winner Bill Condon from a screenplay by TBD based on the 1991 animated film, the film is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards® (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.

I've heard a lot of people say this is the best scene in the movie. Pales in comparison to the original. The animated opening is epic and mysterious, and tells the story in about half the time.

Seeing this, I laugh at the part where the narrator says that the prince begged for forgiveness . He did not beg but just got weak on his knees and was stuck marveling.

For all of this movie's problems, I do like they give a logical explanation why the whole village would forget about the Beast, his castle, and everyone in it. Always bugged me in the Animated one how this monstrosity of a building could be a day's ride from the village and NOBODY noticed it.

when Gaston was begging for mercy I am sure the prince thought back to the cold winters night he begged for mercy.

The animated intro is so much better she sounds so hyped saying “who can ever learn to love a beast”?😂

in my opinion this was the most beautiful scene in the film. the way they used whites, pastels, and candles to make the room dark and gleaming at once was a brilliant move in theory and practice. an utter shame that the same can’t be said for the rest of the movie.

Though I have some mixed feelings about Emma Watson's performance & interpretation here, this scene is def one of the most historically accurate in terms of fashion and style.

Moral of the story is that … we have to be kind to all and humbles yourself all the time even if sometimes we don’t get the same thing to others !!! And also that is our greatest legacy we leave forever !!!

Rest in Peace Rita Davies, the actress who played the old lady who is actually the Enchantress.
When you watch this film it's always important to take note of the Enchantress.

I just realized that in the end Gaston and Adam before he was the beast are very similar. They're both "good looking", had terrible personalities, arrogant, and just jerks but when Adam eventually killed Gaston and meet Belle it felt like bc of Belle and he found true love he changed while for Gaston if he and Belle were together I'm pretty sure she would've killed herself or gone away just being with a man like Gaston

2:57-3:15 This is almost as frightening as the flashback sequence of this moment shown in "The Enchanted Christmas".

I think this scene is done better here than in the original. Fills in the plot holes and makes more sense. But both are good.

Of all the live action remakes, this one was the most accurate to the animation. I loved it, beautifully done. The palace is incredible. I really hope they follow this with the new live action of The Little Mermaid. 🧜🏻‍♀️💜

In the live-action version the prince who became the beast had a ball with pretty women unlike the cartoon version the prince had a Christmas party with his servants
Before he was cursed by not helping an old beggar woman to have her warm from the winter cold and the live-action version he didn't help her keep dry and warm from a rainstorm.
